For Victorians!! This was just posted on the Australian Working Retriever BB

A demonstration and practice day for the new Retrieving Ability Test for Gundogs has been organized for Sunday 20th March at KCC Park Cranbourne. 10AM - 3PM. Everyone and their gundogs are most welcome. Flyers are being sent to obedience clubs, gundog clubs, and whoever else we can think of and we are hoping on a good turnout. On the same day the Weimaraner Club of Victoria will be conducting their Restricted to Gundogs Obedience Trials 1 x am and 1 x pm . If you are entering the trials please come along when you have a break and have a go at this new event especially for gundogs.

Yay! I will be there with my puppy  Looking forward to it!

For people who don't get the Retrieving Club newsletter:

Training

The beginners’ classes will be at Kingsmeadow, Guildford on Sundays in March starting at 8.30am. We plan to run 3 Training Days as mentioned in the schedule.

You will get more details later. The ANKC has introduced 2 new titles for Retrieving. There are 2 levels of Retrieving Ability Tests for Gundogs.

Dogs do not have to be Registered, but must be a Gundog type. eg an unregistered Gundog perhaps or a cross These tests can be held at an Obedience trial because a gun is not used and the retrieves done with dummies. At the beginners’ class there will be a demonstration of what’s required and you can practise for the Novice level Test. (Title is NRA) To see the full details please go to the ANKC website and go to Rules, then Retrieving Ability Tests.

Looks like the Retrieving club will run the test in WA

Except the Retrieving Club here don't hold Obedience trials  But at least there is some movement forward with this over here so I reckon we'll see it being held by someone sooner or later

RV, you gonna come to the Easter Weekend Arthur River trials with me? It was a heap of fun last year and learnt lots with stewarding ;) But this time I'd like someone to share a tent with ;)

Why do they have to hold obedience trials?? The ACT Gundog Society is conducting our first RATG in April in conjunction with another clubs Obedience trial! Works out well for both clubs involved. The ACTGS does hold an obedience trial later in the year but found running both on the same day too taxing on our club committee.

They don't, it's just that RV posted about the retrieving club mentioning it to coincide with an obedience trial and I just couldn't picture it being combined with another club's obedience trial :vomit: Regardless, I just hope we get them :vomit:

Poo :) And as for dog shows that weekend, just thought with you being so keen on a dual purpose breed that you'd want to start early on the retrieving learning thing  (unless it's more field stuff you wanna do? meh I have no idea )

Who else can I rope into coming with me? :vomit:

The National Retrieving and Field Trials Committee has reviewed the Rules for Gundog working tests and renamed it "Retrieving ability tests for Gundogs"

and it now has Titles attached to it.

All those Gundogs owners out there, whether Main, Limited or Associate Registered should check out this new Sport.

You could end up with a Retrieving Title!

The rules are on the ANKC Website - http://www.ankc.org.au/Rules.aspx
