Kirislin
a few years ago, before I had a camera of my own I posted a pic of a freaky fly who buzzed around me and it was so sluggish I swatted it and accidentally killed it. I've never seen anything like it so I took a photo and eventually posted the actual fly off to the museum, never heard another thing from them about it. Here's the pic from then. Well today I saw another one, not exactly the same, the first one had an exact heart shape on its bottom. I suspect it's just individual variation, I think it's probably the same species. I've not seen one since that first one years ago. Has anyone else seen a fly like this? It looks for all the world like it's wearing a knitted jumper

Kirislin
thanks Frodos mum. Here's what it is. Interesting that the fly depicted has slightly different markings to both of mine. I think there must be a bit of variation in them cause the two I have seen haven't been identical. http://www.whatsthatbug.com/2009/12/13/unk...fly-we-believe/

Kirislin
Did you accidently kill that one too :p p.s Just having a lend of you P.s.s Fantastic photo's No cheeky, this one lives to fly another day. I bet most would have swatted the other one, it was big and slow and very determined to land on my head, it kept coming back at me like an old WW2 fighter.
