Kobi'sDaisy
Hey all! We are expecting a new arrival in Feb and are starting to look into puppy school then a little later on dog training school. We are living north of the city and was hoping to get some advice, positive or negative of places in the area so we can make a good decision. Our dog will be pet only so just needs standard obedience through positive reinforcement. Thanks in advance
Gogee
Thanks in advance Hi Daisy, not sure how far out north you are but here are some recommendations for places that I've taken my two dogs to that promote positive reinforcement based training... Stephen's Terrace Vet Clinic, at St. Peters - a fantastic puppy preschool program, based on positive reinforcement and socialisation. Puppy Preschool at Stephen's Terrace Vets Canine Behavioural School in Trinity Gardens - a positive reinforcement based obedience school. We took our two dogs there a while ago, and were really happy with their methods and philosophy. Great knowledgeable trainers as well! Canine Behavioural School I'm sure other South Aussies who live North can recommend some other places up that way as well. Cheers and best of luck with your new pup in Feb
whiskedaway
We never did puppy school, however we do obedience and agility now at Para Districts Obedience Dog Club. There are some really good trainers, though it all depends on what breed of dog - we tend to get put into the too hard basket a little because we have a Sibe and Sibes have a reputation of being untrainable, but they're really good with border collies, shelties, GSDs, etc.
Kobi'sDaisy
Thanks so much! We're not far north (in Beverley) so have found a few around there just wanted some opinions as I heard the vet schools can have some mixed results. The para dog training looks fantastic and will definatley look into it when he's older (it's a Vizsla we 're getting)
trishalouise
Try Julie from Nutts About Mutts. She does puppy school as well as adult classes and is fantastic! Good luck with your Vizla - they are beautiful!! I just recommended a friend with a Vizla to Julie and he has responded so well to her training - passed basic with flying colours and on to intermediate next year. Megan from Canine Interaction is also fantastic but not offering puppy classes as far as I know at the moment. Great for the next step though. whiskedaway
Oh I used to have two Vizslas. Beautiful dogs. You should have no problems at Para with it. Will hopefully see you around to get puppy cuddles.
