Bondi Vet

I personally think he's a moron - a well-meaning one, perhaps, but a moron all the same. Particularly in regards to the breed hysteria he promoted with some pit bull issues a while ago. The Lisa woman seems like a complete twat. I've heard her promote crossbreeds like "spoodles"; she owns two herself. Both of them make me roll my eyes.

He's gross to me. 'Course, that could be the fact I'm a lesbian speaking. :) The episode where they went to Bali (or Fiji) made me laugh something chronic. Surfing when you're supposed to be on a veterinary mission? REALLY?

Lisa Chimes graduated from uni in 2006 so she doesn't have much experience behind her. She's evidently done courses in TV presentation plus acting and drama classes. If only they'd taught her to quit wobbling her head every time she's on camera.

Chris Brown graduated with first class honors so if he's an idiot and/or a moron he's a damn smart one. What they don't show on Bondi Vet is that he visits remote aborignal communities treating and desexing dogs who have never seen a vet. Not sure if he still does this but according to my vet he made at least a couple of trips to treat the camp dogs.

Oh, the irony of the nong who classifies a particular demographic that watch the show, but said nong appears to have closely watched every episode and can rattle off even the most minute detail of any episode.

I watch it if I'm home and I like Bondi Vet but I sure as hell don't pay attention to every detail. It's just not that important that I won't blink in case I miss something.

I believe (as a client of the clinic before the tv show) that he actually has very little to do with actually veterinary care at the clinic - he only gets called in for the "tv worthy cases" and most of the surgery's you see him doing are carefully filmed i.e. another vet is actually doing it and Chris just pokes around or does a particular step for the camera before handing over to the "real vet".

I would much prefer to see the real vets on tv - although they might not be as pretty :)

I thought the guy with the danes was a bit of a worry!

It looked like he was thowing the stick into that rough surf from those rocks for the dogs to fetch - what was with that?

Also treating the one with the ear infection with human antibiotics.... :)

And taking a dog that was so sick for a run and swim at the beach and then going to the vet? I would be heading straight for the vet with a feverish dog.

Think about it - how did the camera crew know he was at the beach with a sick dog and was then going to the vet

A lot of the show is staged - he would have turned up at the vet for a consult and then they shot some location shots afterwards once they decided his story was worthy of the show

Who takes a dog with an ear infection swimming?

Its all for the cameras...

Aussielover - please fix up your quote to be like the above as you original posts makes it look like I said more than I did.

Who said the dog had an ear infection at the time - as I said, they film location shots/ fillers some time later when they have pieced together the show - it could have been a month later.

I can't understand, if by the looks of it a lot of you out there despise him and the show so much, then why do you watch it?

Have you ever driven past a car crash?

Don't really want to look, but can't not look either. And let's face it, so much of what is said and done on that show is a great big pile up! :o

@Spikespuppy - My Dobe also will eat a tablet :mad but as if you would do it like that with a snarling dog that you don't really know. There is no way in hell that any person that has an brain would even bother trying. He is a show pony.

I need to get the laughs out of it if nothing else!

He obviously likes animals or he wouldn't be a vet, right?

His father is a animal vet in newcastle and Chris regulary visits, i've met chris multiple times even been in the surgery room with him alone just me him and a dog whilst he has been doing surgery. I can honestly say he is very friendly and a bubbly person and a nice guy.

But he deffinately get's cut down by all the "tall poppy's" out there.

Can you honestly say that he is an idiot! he is a vet for god sake he can't be that dumb? the show is obviously set up and produced to get ratings, that is what makes the program interesting (to some).

the real world and behind the scenes is ttally different. For some of us have saying he is an idiot. people make mistakes he is only human, no one makes you watch the show, i don't watch it i don't find multiple ad's running every minute entertaining or interesting it's more talk than action any way.

my 2 cents haha i don't mean to offend anyone just stating the facts, that he is a nice guy behind the scenes

Just coz they are vets doesn't mean they aren't dumb! I have gone to a couple of vets and left shaking my head at some of the things they have said to me! Luckily I know enough to get a second opinion.

As for Bondi Vet, I have never watched it so can't comment

Oh I do agree!! And trying to shove a pill down a throat that size is really difficult even with a happy dog!! We used to have a 2kg Maltese x and it was so much easier to mush the pill up or use a popper- fiddling with a tiny muzzle is just silly???

You can have all the brains in the world, graduate top of your class, but it's your tableside manner that counts.

Exactly. What goes on behind the scenes is totally different. But yet he still chooses to have a TV show where the produces etc get him to do stuff that to knowledgeable people, looks completely ridiculous.

What if that joey in the recent episode died because it overheated, like he suggested? Because it would make 'good tv' for him to take it home and put it in his bed. An experienced wildlife carer would likely have had a proper temperature controlled area for the joey. When his alarm woke him up for feed time, the milk bottle he used was just sitting on his bedside table. So it's been sitting there for 2-3 hours since the last feed? cold? growing bacteria?

Lambs and other animals come to him in Bondi - bit weird? He traveled out to assist in a difficult birthing of one of Rachel Sanna's mares. Now really, if one of her mares really was having difficulty, surely she'd have equine vets there?

I'm sure he's a great guy and is probably very good as his job. But I just wish that if he was going to do a TV show about being a vet, make it real.

Sure he gets well paid for looking a prat.

But he's a good looking prat. I'll have to watch the start of it again next week just to see him with his shirt off doing the Hasselhoffian run along the beach

He doesn't do it for me at all :D

We used to have a show like this years ago in the uk, the guy was really cool, his brothers and dads were vets, and he really got his hands dirty ( up cows bums alot :D ).

I think he then went on to work in Africa.

I really liked it, as it was real.

I think that's the frustrating thing about animal shows these days they are built to get ratings and are often targeted at kids and they don't bother educating people anymore it's just about whatever makes 'great tv' whatever that is.

I hate seeing little dogs riled up then people think the owners make them like that and it's not true most little dogs can't help but react aggressively when they are treated aggressively -ie a giant hand coming towards their face :D

What are they supposed to think when they see that? Bigger, longer nosed dogs have different vision they see the world differently to smaller short nosed dogs, when they see a persons hand coming at them it takes up their whole field of vision they have no idea what they are in for, usually if someone is familiar with little dogs they won't put a whole hand over their head they will approach from the side, having learned that little dogs accept this better. Look up dog vision there are huge differences between the eyes and vision between little and big dogs combine that with the standard temperament of the breeds and you will see why some dogs react aggressively to that type of treatment and some don't.

Exactly, I totally agree with you. I still think the little dog was riled up first. I could easily do that with my pug - rev her up with play then if you put your finger near her she goes for it. And I also think a lot of the 'clients' are wanting their 15 seconds of fame on a tv show. I'll stick with my vet who doesnt have a tv crew in the face of animals to get a reaction worthy of tv ratings.

i hate this show, but i always end up watching it.

the female vet had a small dog bought into her after a dog attack by a "pit bull", she then went onto say that pit bulls have lock jaw and she kept ranting on about how pit bulls are a bad breed. what sort of vet doesn't know that lock jaw is a myth and that all dogs have the ability to be aggressive?!

then chris had a lady bring him a small puppy from the pound for a DNA test. she said she didnt want the puppy if he had pit bull in him, chris alluded to pit bulls not being good for families with small children. the results came back staffy x whippet. what he failed to mention is that there is no DNA sample for the american pit bull in australia so all pittys come up as staffys since their DNA is so similar.

i was very disappointed by this episode and haven't had any respect for them since.
