I love sitting in the gazebo on a sunny 25 degree day having a drink and a laugh with good friends.

I love making my dogs look all fancy-schmancy for the day 'cos they are usually such big messy scruffers.

I love the buzz at a show at about 7am, when everyone is arriving and setting up.

I love watching dogs and handlers that I admire.

I love fringies :( :D

given that i haven't entered a show for a little while, I realise that what I love the most about showing is going to hang out with friends - talking to likeminded people, and learning, learning, learning.

This is why I will be showing in years from now and keep coming back! :( Plus sometimes I get ES cuddles :D

Seeing a side of people I never knew.

Having to travel 1000km to get my dogs vetted, being told that there's nothing wrong with them, and travelling 1000km back again.

Then doing similar things, again and again.

I love shows for the knowledge and the experience that I'm not like them.

Gaining confidence

I used to be the little kid that sat in the corner at shows making teddy bears out of poodle hair. :laugh:

Since getting my own dog and going to a lot of shows by myself I have learnt that yes, there are people out there who can help you, all you need to do is ask!

I love the socilizing, I love actually being part of the crowd, not just tagging along with my mum lol and I love when my little moster actually behaves :o

gives me something to look forward to on the weekend

lets me spend quality time with my dogs

gives me an excuse to spend all day chatting with friends and like-minded people

has taught me to: put up a gazebo, tow a trailer, get stuck pegs out of the ground, get up early and enjoy it, drive long distances by myself, be more confident (well, a teeny bit)

has given me a reason to wear the makeup that people are always giving me :p

And on the day, nothing beats (1) my dogs enjoying themselves (2) winning :D

Has anyone else noticed that dog showing is like gambling (ie the pokies). Random rewards at random times - ie you never know whether you are going to win small or win big, nor when you are going to win. I have found myself entering more shows 'just in case' that one brings the big win!!! And I am totally against gambling :D :laugh:

We have had 2 BOB's the last two weeks. :eek: But after the previous Saturday's we were 5th out of 5 on the next day. ;) ;) ;) :rofl:

I love the independence too, never thought I would be reversing a trailer or driving interstate by myself with the dogs to a show :thumbsup:

Last shows I went to my girl won BOB, intermediate in group and the in show judge told me how much he liked her, next show (same day) res cc and not even rubob :rofl: seems kind of crazy.

p.s whats chicken court mean? :rofl:

Definitely a couple of things for me!

Before showing, I would be online from say 6 or 7 am to 1 or 2 am! :D

I was studying IT at TAFE so I spent a lot of time on my computer chatting with other classmates about the classes, help each other with assignments/homework etc etc!

But now thanks to showing, it's now something to do most weekends/twilights! It's a nice shift of lifestyle and more time outdoors and traveling on the road going to shows!

Secondly, it's something to do other than work!! It's also another type of "work" so to speak, but it's more something I want to do and a chance to work with my dogs and spend time with them :thumbsup:

It's basically a perfect time waster activity! :D Love it for the travels, relaxation, and showing the dogs for fun!

Any wins attached is a bonus and would make the day sweeter!

It's a real nice learning experience! I initially started with handling someone's Pug during child handlers while my mum showed her Dobermann and was enjoying it before they eventually finished showing and recently came back into it! So probably a 10+ years! I had the bug long before my Min Pin!

I know how you feel about it being crazy! It happens to me a lot as well with Clancy! I got placed 2nd out of 2 at one specialty and 3rd out of 4 at another specialty last month and 2 weeks ago went 8 Points Best of Breed and Intermediate in Group with over 200 Toys entered! Mind you he was not even shortlisted and there was another that was shortlisted which was in the same Class in Group as Clancy!!!

Baffling to be honest! But I'll take it!

One thing learned! There is no right or wrong answer!!!! Another great thing about showing! The unpredictability!! :D :rofl:

Stopping for a chocolate coated ice cream from Hungry Jacks in Warrnambool. (One year we stopped and ate it in the car park and then drove through the drive thru again for another one!!!!)

I Love going to shows to exhibit our wonderful dog and associate and socialise with great people. We love the roadtrips and the laughs we have together win or lose. Working weeks seem to go a lot quicker when there is a dog show to look forward to.

I am only very new to the show scene, but I am completely and utterly addicted!!!

I love meeting new people, and admiring their dogs " in the flesh" rather than seeing them in a pic on the computer! I have met some wonderful people in the space of six shows, and can't wait to meet more :laugh:

Getting to spend the entire day with my dog,knowing that the whole day is about her.....whether she wins or not is irrelevant, it is a big day out for her ;) Don't get me wrong, I am absorbing all the info that comes my way, but I never want to get caught up in the competitive streak.

Being a good sport.

Going home with new friends, new knowledge, coated in doggy drool and smells, and recounting the antics of the day. Some of our four-legged friends are hilarious!!! :)
