EmiLeigh
Hey DOLers! I thought this would be a good place to begin my search for a place to learn all about handling dogs for the show ring. I might sound a bit naive, but I guess we all have to start somewhere. I would like to learn how to show my Dogue de Bordeaux puppy, where do I start? Our breeder is interstate and althoughs she gave some great advice, she didn't know places here in Adelaide that offers handler training. Any advice for a biginner who would like to get into this great sport? Thank you everyone :D

Enigma01au
Greetings, There is Show Training on Thursday nights (7pm) at Flaxley, near Mt Barker. You can call Mrs Jane McDonald - 83889546 for enquiries / directions. I've just started here in SA too. I've found a couple of people to help me, just by turning up at the shows and talking to others at the ring! Most are willing to give a hand to a newbie! Good Luck
whiskedaway
Also in SA, on the first and third Thursday of the month at 8:15pm (which therefore means this Thursday night), there's show handler training at the Rottweiler Club of SA in Adelaide. And it's cheap, only $3 a lesson. Make sure you bring your vacc certificate (I forgot mine and need to bring it the next time we go, doh!) http://www.rottweilerclubsa.com.au/index.php?id=60#details Edited November 15, 2010 by whiskedaway

There are a few people who will offer you a helping hand there if you ask and tell them you are a newbie The best thing to do is watch the Junior Show Handling which is held in the lunch period of the shows, you will learn a lot doing that. If you go here http://www.dogssa.com.au/Website/index.php?id=50&level=2 then on the left to the Downloads you will see where each show will be held Good luck with it all
