fungrzz
HI everyone, Our holistic vet recommended feeding artichokes to my dog to support her liver which has taken a beating in the last few months from harsh drugs... I keep forgetting to ask her HOW to feed it so just wondering if any knowledgable DOL-ers have any ideas? I have never eaten artichokes before so it just looks confusing to me... TIA! ravenau1
What kind of artichoke? The one that looks like a root (jerusalem) or the one that has scaly kind of leaves (globe)? I've eaten the one with the leaves, just steam it then scoop out the fibres in the centre (don't eat those). Usually have with butter but I guess that wouldn't be good for your doggie
poodlefan
Easiest way would probably be to feed a concentrated supplement. Failing that, the ones in jars of oil might be the go.
Boronia
If it is the Jerusalem artichoke that you need give me a shout and I will send you a heap...some your dog can eat and some you can plant for eating next year. They will be gratis...just pay the postage cost. Edited November 17, 2010 by Boronia
