Here you go guys!!! Wish away! :D

My goals will depend on whether I breed a litter from Ella or not... if yes then I hope to actually make it to a trial next year, if no then I bloody well want my OC!

Well I didn't breed a litter and I've got the OC so she's on holidays now until I do breed the litter! LOL

Wuffles, some working dogs that are kept active don't really go through a noticeable teenage stage. Bronte was born an adult and Ren looks like a puppy, smells like a puppy, wiggles and sings like a puppy, but but he works and behaves like an adult.

Add Em to that! Retrieving, in particular, is serious business and her whole demeanour changes.

Great job DSO I wish I had goals like that :)

My goal this year with Orlando is to get CCD we have come close in our pass marks but yet so far, Hastings Obedience trial on Sat :crossfingers: we get our 1st pass of the 3 we need

We did get our ET which was not even on our goal list

our goals for next year 2012

Malika :: ET & CCD

Orlando :: CD

Sarge :: CCD

Dodger is learning Agility, not old enough to compete yet

WE have achieved CCD a bit quicker than I thought we would :happydance2::happydance: with Orlando

Now off to the Melb Royal for the Hell of it

I'll add to this one....

For Lottie:

- get her CCD title (maybe - or at least enter a couple trials!!)

- Start training agility - and maybe have a go at the end of the year - although I won't be pushing her as she is on the largish size so might wait a while

- Do some more herding

I think if I can get these to happen i'll be very happy!!!!

And to just have lots of fun - which I usually do anyway - Lottie is a pretty fun dog to work with

Thought i'd come back and see what my goals were - and looks like i've done all I need to for the year

We finally got our CCD title, i've started competing in agility and even have a qualie, and i've started more herding!!! We also joined a flyball team and have our first comp in the next few weeks :D

A big congrats on your CCD title, Murve - was the weekend for it :D :D

So it's about half way through the year - thought I'd review my goals :)

I sort of thought I wouldn't do goals for next year, because I want to not care if Jess passes of not, as long as she's having fun (in agility, she's having almost too much fun though!!) but I gave in, I like goals

Jess

-CDX title

-Start Utility training *undecided*

-JD title (only one more leg!)

-AD title

-Leg(s) towards JDX, JDO, SD, GD

-Finish teaching the bloody see-saw then..

-ADX + ADO trials

Goals for me would be to not get so nervous in the ring, focus on the good more than the bad and to better my crappy agility handling!

Kind of finished two goals already :)

So to that I'll add:

-GD title

-have a go at pairs

In April Jess got her JD and this month she got her AD and CDX.

Need one more leg for her GD.

First trial in agility excellent will be on the 9th of July.

I haven't been entering opens, entry fees without extra runs are bad enough

And we've sort of started the bases of UD training.

Not too bad for half way through :)

Love reading about goal accomplishments :)

Just realised Jess has completed a few more goals, with 2 legs towards both her JDX and ADX and she had her debut run in ADO last weekend (was kind of a train wreck run, but oh well!) Games goals are still incomplete because I haven't been able to enter any games trials

Yay, my first goals thread!

Ava

- Work on duration heelwork while keeping enthusiasm high. Must do this first!

- Enter trials and gain CCD title. Aim for high scores rather than just passes.

- Be able to work to a CD standard and maybe enter some trials.

- Start training in agility, and depending on when we can get into classes, hopefully start trialling towards the end of the year.

- Think about dabbling in DWD or flyball.

- Work on manners. No jumping up, calm greeting of other dogs, no rushing to the door to greet visitors.

Satchmo

- Work harder on his almost nonexistent recall.

- Be tough but kind, be consistent with NILIF and don't let him take advantage of me.

- Take him through at least two full sessions at our club or until he passes the Silver assessment.

Me

- Work hard to get my leg strength back after my surgery earlier this year so that I can keep up with Ava in agility!

- Listen to and learn from those more experienced than me.

- Put in the effort to make each and every training session fun and exciting - tails must be wagging and happy.

- Don't let myself get frustrated. Learn how to put it behind us and move on. HAVE FUN! :D

I am pretty happy with what we have achieved this year. Ava got her CCD and CD so those are ticked off. We had our first jumping trial last month and another few before the end of the year.

Didn't meet Satch's goals but he is living a great life in his favourite place, the lounge room

Onwards and upwards to next year!

Hi all

I'm refreshing my goals, given its still January I don't think I'm being too cheeky. Agility may end up being pushed down the list a little with our main focus on herding and obedience.

Bronte:

- Train for and gain her Herding Started A title on sheep. Start some training on ducks and cattle.

- Gain her CD title.

- Start training for her CDX - out of sight is going to be a challenge for us - mummy's girl!

- Start agility training and just generally learn a heap more about the discipline as its a little foreign to me.

- Maybe try a tracking workshop or two, initially for fun to try it out and see if we like it.

'Yet to be chosen and named puppy':

- Basic obedience and plenty of socialisation.

- Introduction to sheep and watching, watching, watching the big dogs work the stock.

- Gain his/her Herding Instinct Certificate.

Right well its been a mixed year for me and my two.

I have done quite a bit of obed training with Bronte, but won't get her into a Novice ring until next year, as I have a lot of family and travel commitments for the rest of 2011. I'm also planning to pick up on the tracking with her next year too.

But today she did just complete the final legs on her Herding Started title and after paperwork has a new name - Nauglamir Bronte N Gold CCD HSAs.

As for the yet to be chosen and named puppy, well he has had a cracker two weeks. He got Puppy of Breed and Reserve Challenge Dog at the Royal Melb Show and today passed his Instinct Certificate and then went beyond my goals and gained both legs of his Herding Test title. He will have a name change to Foxbell First Romance HT. To his friends he's known as Ren. He has had quite a bit of obed training too and hopefully will see a CCD ring next year, he has buckets of talent, but he anticipates all the time, so I just need to settle him a bit more.

OK even though my trialling year isn't over yet (but close to it), I thought I'd update on my achievements (and things that didn't quite happen! :o)

Ruby:

- I'd really love her CDX title next year, but my goal will just be for her to be focused in the ring again (happy isn't an issue, she's happy as Larry - but off with the fairies! Or off mugging judges or stewards!)

- Trial in Novice Jumping and hopefully get her JD title. If that happens, I'd like us to make a start on JDX (even if it's just purely giving it a go!)

- Perhaps trial in Novice Agility at some stage, but am not actually aiming for her AD title as I don't want to push her (she has only just gotten her confidence back to go over the full sized dogwalk!)

- If Rally-O becomes official, her RN title.

- Keep up training in retrieving, but have no solid goals for this one as I honestly have no idea how far we'll get with this sport. I just want her to enjoy it!

- Maybe try Tracking, and if I can find the time to train for it, do the ET with her.

- Get a Really Reliable Recall!

Update:

CDX title achieved in July! :cheer: (but still very much running off to mug stewards, judges, basically anyone standing near the ring :o So scraping some passes for the title was a huge shock! After such a long string of failures, she actually pulled her 3 passes off in a very short time span).

JD and AD titles completed in the first half of the year!

3 passes in JDX so far. Haven't entered ADX as I need to teach her see-saw still due to her previously mentioned phobia of dogwalk/see-saw. Also has 1 pass in JDO.

Retrieving training going well and we will be trialling next year if things continue to stay on track :)

No time for Tracking or ET, can't see those ever happening. Rally never became official. Recall getting much better but still not 100% reliable :o

Millie:

- Trial in Open obedience and get her CDX title.

- Trial in Novice Jumping and hopefully get a pass towards her JD title.

- If Rally-O becomes official, her RN title.

- Maybe try Tracking, and if I can find the time to train for it, do the ET with her.

- Get a Really Reliable Recall!

Update:

CDX title achieved in September at the WA State Obedience Trial! :cheer:

JD and AD titles completed in the first half of the year!

2 passes in JDX so far, as well as 1 pass in ADX (out of 2 ADX trials). So have gotten much further in agility than I thought I would have with her seeing as I wasn't even aiming for any agility titles this year!

No time for Tracking or ET, can't see those ever happening. Rally never became official. Recall, well I think it's gone backwards to be honest :o Haven't put the work in sadly!

Me!:

- Stop being so nervous and so serious, and just have some fun, dammit!!! (can't guarantee this goal is achievable, but will try! :D)

- Be strong and hold off on puppy purchase!

Update:

Still nervous but alcohol at night time trials helps! And having fun, especially in agility as I have no expectations with that one. We have a good time whether we pass or bomb out in spectacular fashion!!!

No puppy purchase, yay! But having fun and getting my fix with mum's new mini schnauzer puppy. She will be my next agility prospect with a possibility of obedience :)

Akira

- Hopefully get Akira to walk on a loose leash 100% of the time, rather than 90% some days and 20% other days

- Get to grade 4 in obedience (on days when Akira concentrates, this is entirely possible and hopefully now that she's starting to listen more might be doable)

- Get Akira to concentrate in distracting environments (training in drive will hopefully help this)

- Work towards trialling in agility

- Hopefully start training in flyball

Halo

- Have fun with her being a puppy :D

- Train an extremely solid stand before starting work on obedience

Me

- Have fun and hopefully become a better handler

Just updating a little. Nothing major, but I'm quite proud of both my girls.

Akira's LLW has significantly improved this year - just walking she still pulls a fair bit, but we're probably at 40% LLW all the time now. At obedience, we're at 90% LLW which is fantastic and she only really pulls when she's not concentrating. We've worked out how to motivate her now and she's concentrating stacks better. She's also realised that I'm fun (and normally have food) so she has stopped running off during stays, and is allowed to train offlead at agility now.

Halo has started obedience - her stand isn't solid but she has heaps of fun with obedience so I thought I'd get her started. However I am most proud of her fantastic recall - she could be playing with another dog fifty metres away and if I call her she will come. She's definitely proving already that she has the drive and willingness to please that is really useful for training.

Updating this. :) I'm feeling like I haven't achieved much this year, but we've been absolutely flat out.

Akira

- LLW is still questionable, but we're feeling a lot more in control now. For example, while Akira walks on a tight lead, she's not yanking our arms off anymore.

- Akira got to grade 2 in obedience, and I doubt she'll get any further this year. We haven't really gone to an obedience class with her since July due to commitments with showing and our wedding. It's not something she likes anyway so I'm not too bothered about it and we've been concentrating on other things.

- Akira's concentration is a LOT better. Some days she switches off and I know there's no point doing anything, but others she's an absolute angel. And as a result her recall is a lot better too.

- Akira is starting to really understand agility, and I'm hoping to have our first trial in jumping next year. She's been getting some fantastic comments from our instructors.

- We haven't started flyball yet as we have to be in grade 3 obedience to do so, but we're hoping to start next year.

- Akira also had the chance to do some sledding earlier in the year which she loved, so we'll be going out to do that next year.

Halo

- Halo is becoming a great obedience dog. She now trains at a new club where she's in grade 2. She's unfortunately had a month's break from obedience due to being in season/injury, and if we were told if we'd attended more classes last month she would have been moved up to grade 3. :( Her big downfall at the moment is her down stays, though, which is something we're working hard on.

- Halo has started doing puppy foundation agility classes. She takes her time and does things slowly, so it's very different training her to training Akira.

- Halo's confirmation training is going well, she's got a really good stand now and she did quite well at Adelaide Royal.

Me

- Not sure if I'm really a better handler (I watched the Adelaide Royal video the other day and cringed) but I'm having fun!
