RubyStar
Looking good TN - and didn't you leave something out that you achieved while you were achieving all that with the dogs - you've all had a super year. Well done!! I think the fact that she managed any training, let alone trials and titles, with her super year is impressive!! Go Doctor Nik, you rock!! SmoothieGirl
Just an update on the outcomes of 2011, so I can revise the plan for 2012. Hi all I'm refreshing my goals, given its still January I don't think I'm being too cheeky. Agility may end up being pushed down the list a little with our main focus on herding and obedience. Bronte: - Train for and gain her Herding Started A title on sheep. Start some training on ducks and cattle. Got her HSAs, haven't tried her on other stock yet. - Gain her CD title. No time to compete in obed this year, but she's pretty much ready for the Novice ring early next year. - Start training for her CDX - out of sight is going to be a challenge for us - mummy's girl! Hmm, been dabbling, but need more work. - Start agility training and just generally learn a heap more about the discipline as its a little foreign to me. Being doing some, but I got sick and then had no time. - Maybe try a tracking workshop or two, initially for fun to try it out and see if we like it. Started some training recently with a friend, no workshop yet. 'Yet to be chosen and named puppy': That would be Ren: - Basic obedience and plenty of socialisation. Heaps of this and he's great. - Introduction to sheep and watching, watching, watching the big dogs work the stock. He gets it for sure. - Gain his/her Herding Instinct Certificate. He has his certificate and his Herding Title. - He also got Reserve Dog Challeng at Melb Royal and this weekend he got his first points towards his Aust. Championship, still a long long way to go. Tay.
Well, trialling year is over. I'm happy with our goal accomplishments! Jess -CDX title -Check! -Start Utility training *undecided* -Nope, obedience got a bit boring for both of us -JD title -Check! -AD title -Check! -Leg(s) towards JDX, JDO, SD, GD -All Check! -Finish teaching the bloody see-saw then.. -Check! -ADX + ADO trial -Check! plus 1 Q in ADO & 3 in ADX! -GD title -Nope, only entered gamblers once all year -have a go at pairs -Nope, need a partner ! Goals for me would be to not get so nervous in the ring, focus on the good more than the bad and to better my crappy agility handling! -Hmmm, I guess my crappy agility handling is a little less crappy (I can front cross without falling over now ). I still get nervous but I'm usually fine after the first run of the day. Overall, improvements but with plenty of room for more improvement! Sayreovi
Nova: Start trialling in tracking! Work on his stays and do a few CCD trials (big maybe! Don't know if my nerves could handle it!) Poor Nova, we didn't manage anything this year Darcy: Enter a few more agility trials and get at least his ADX and JDX. Do a few obedience trials Start tracking Do his ET Get his show title Get back into flyball and get a PB of at least 4.3! Didn't do any agility, obedience, tracking or get his ET Managed to get his show title and got back into flyball but didn't get any where close to a PB time! Jovi: Start her "proper" obedience training Learn basics for agility and flyball Get her show title Trialled in obedience twice and have done one comp for flyball. Doing foundation agility course and will be trialling next year :D 3/4 of her show title.....nearly got there! Me Relax Remain cool, calm and collected at trials Was much better at my obedience trials with Jovi, still nervous but not to the point of throwing up, much better :D

Tassie
I didn't put up a wish-list - I'm superstitious - didn't want to jinx myself - but anyway ... Kirra Is still happily competing in Agility (Masters and Open) at 9 and 3/4 - no titles completed this year (missed finishing JDM2 by one refusal - my fault of course ) but some lovely runs - mostly good contacts, my handling is improving a bit, and my planning definitely improving (pity the execution isn't always up to the same standard ) Passed TSD1 test and was doing brilliantly on her TSD2 until she airscented the track further down the hill and cut off a corner - oh well, next year. Had lots of fun at a DWD workshop, but is still trying to persuade her mom to get organised and work up some routines Had her first go at Rally O in a mock trial - passed and really enjoyed it - and this is a dog who doesn't believe in formal obedience - so guess who's going to be doing Rally O next year. Rory Completed his ET title - he really enjoys working with the bike. Started tracking and completed TD in 3 trials. Missed Test 4 - he doesn't DO Scotch thistles all around a very open first corner - not willing to go in any direction - and then veered off track. Next year ..... He's a much more reliable tracker than Kirra - doesn't try to do the whole thing at warp speed. Obedience - 1 CCD pass, competing in Novice (4 passes in individual work, but not ready for stays yet .... next year) Rally O - He loves it - completed Novice 'titles' at Club and mock trial levels and first 'pass' in Advanced at mock trial. Roll on 2012 so we can try to convert those to official titles. Agility - playing round with it, but still working on getting him really trustworthy rouind other dogs in exciting situations - summer holiday task. Conformation - continues to be shown by his lovely Junior Handler when he has time - one BOB, several Dog Challenges, including a 17 point Dog Challenge at Hobart Royal
RallyValley
In 2011 there are my goals;- Train Toby through his bike phobia and get ET (if his vet ok's it for his joints) if not just the bike phobia -Train Toby to an RN/CCD level. Maybe enter a trial (but not likely ) - Do tracking! Maybe TD -Keep learning and having fun! Well less then a month into 2011 and I am well into one of my goals! This morning me and my mum went for a bike ride with Toby, he was trotting between the two bikes and was more concerened about looking for birds and kangaroos then the bikes ;) He isn't 100% but is much closer, yesterday when we were at the park a bike also rode past and he didn't seem bothered by it although he definately noticed it ;) Need to start on skateboard phobia next.. We also have a tracking harness on the way so are at least taking a step in that direction too. Ok so we are at; -Toby is very good with bikes still but won't be doing ET as the long distance trotting on hard ground makes him a bit sore, so we have been advised only short rides by his vet/physio. -With his obedience we are heeling now And he is much happier to train around other dogs. -Tracking won't happen in 2011, I don't have enough time -Definately still learning and having fun -May be doing agility again Toby's soundness has come forward in leaps and bounds! Well at the end of 2012 (almost) I feel that we have kind of met our goals. Toby would be ready to enter a Rally trial tomorrow, he is a little off CCD but that is mostly nerve issues and stays. He has done a CCD NFC round and only did the recall exercise, he was very up and focused in the ring and he would have passed the exercise. Tracking won't happen probably ever now, most Saturdays in tracking season I will be in the field doing stuff with Zora. Toby has been mostly sound, when I start proper agility training with Zora I am going to run through it with him too and see how he holds up. The bike phobia is probably my achievement for 2011, he now is mostly unfazed by bikes - however skateboards, scooters and shopping trolleys all scare him. xena98
Well where do I start Xena She has earned her retirement so she will be the spectator well rather a noisy one at that and enter a few veterans trials for a laugh Gabby Agility Getting her last few legs towards her Agility Champion title. Her SPDX title with her brother (going to be interesting that one) her SDX title, Her GDM title. Obedience To get her UDX title and hopefully some open passes ie sit stays and bringing me the dumbell to me instead of getting it coming too me and go oops forgot what to do mum stand there and drop the article arghhh Inka Agilityto get a bit more precise on the contacts instead of blowing me off and going off a hundred miles an hour and to listen to me that would be good Obedience To be able to do a sit stay and keep the brains in gear and not doing silly thing like ie last week going to present my dumbell to the jump and realizing that wasnt me at the last minute sitting in front crooked Have to say keeps training interesting though Well it's updating time again Xena - Well she earned her retirement and has had an absolute ball this year just being a spectator and getting spoilt with all these titbits that came to her Gabby - She got her Agility Champion Title at easter bein 3 years and 8 months, got her SPDX title with her brother, Her SDX title (actually has 1 leg of SDM), Has her GDM title and has 1 leg towards her UDX title Inka - we actually are listening but the contacts still needs working (actually won quite a few state awards)Obedience well we can do sit stays now but the drop stays seems to be a problem and ummm the brain is still not there at the obedience
Jumabaar
I thought I might come in here- in the hopes I might be more motivated to actually DO some of it. I have no excuse now that I have a garage set up with lighting and antifatigue matting so I can practise groundwork and OB regardless of weather. Franky- 4mths old right now Get positions named and in the heel position from the start! And aim for CCD entry in early 2012 Done- we are entering Rally instead though Begin agility foundations Done- did some private lessons to get motivated! Have an amazing recall Turns out she came with one built in but I will take it as a win! Demi Flyball- teach her to get the ball from the box Still no ball- but she is doing dead ball drops so heading the right way HIC oops forgot to enter any comps HT title Abby Get her back into Obedience and fit enough for flyball (after her litter) We have come first in our last 3 division one comps!! She is being desexed so will need to get back to this though Enter Novice Swapping to rally for the time being Bluey Un-break him (me having an ankle reconstruction undid a bit of the behavioural work I had done with him as he felt the need to protect me, and I wasnt able to resolve it straight away) Stop him chasing other dogs so he can enter a flyball comp!! Have had to have a friend take over because I still can't train him- he jumps at me which is way too much on my ankle still good news is we have started to see some improvement so 2012 looks like it will be his year for flyball Me Actually DO some of the things on my dogs to-do lists OK so didn't get to everything but overall I think with all the crap that has been flying my way I am happy with it. 2012 will hopefully have me getting more confident and actually entering more events rather than chickening out all the time. Its nice to look back and see that I have actually made some headway, particularly with Franky who is really fun and easy to work with!
The Spotted Devil
Looking forward to more fun in 2011! Ziggy - enter a Novice obedience trial and get that final pass card - that went well! 191 and 1st place! - work on Open obedience - specifically more duration heeling, drop on recall games, retrieve (over a jump and neat fronts) and out of sight stays - this is progressing nicely. No rush and quite happy with our progress - confident see saw for agility - finally we have this! Despite the best efforts of wobbly/slippery equipment at trials we got there with an ADX title to show for it. - tighter rear crosses and change of arms for agility/jumping - not too bad actually. My rear crosses are much less L-shaped than they used to be, Zig is driving forward and I've been working on threadles, pull throughs and serps. - distance handling in agility/jumping - especially weaving poles - distance challenges have really improved this year. I just say "GO!" and Ziggy takes every jump in front of him regardless of where I am. Weaving pole entries are much better but definitely room for improvement - relax, have fun and run HARD - surprisingly this is the part I have enjoyed the most. I'm having so much fun and suspect Ziggy is enjoying himself immensely. I am starting to trust myself and him. Getting passes and titles is just the icing on the cake but it does not come close to that feeling of really gelling as a team. - ET title is high on the priority list too - nup, didn't quite get the new bike in time to start training for the Dally Club ET. Maybe next year! Emily - retrieving will be our major focus in 2011 as foundation work is critical - will include training to the whistle - Little Em is much further along than I expected - her marking is wonderful (singles plus a few doubles) and her confidence has gone through the roof. Whistle stops are just about there (a little slow at times!), whistle recalls are great, known blinds are coming along as is her handling. Her water entries have really, really, really improved too. It's been a HUGE learning curve for me. - obedience - lots of fun, small projects that expand on what I'm doing with her now....we've been doing focus, informal recall, sit, drop, steady feet game, heel position, fronts, hand touches and free shaping - she's nearly ready for Novice, tail is wagging HARD and she's a lot smarter than I am Just need to work on reigning in the enthusiasm on the recall and stop her mugging the judge for cuddles. - jumping/agility - simple exposure to equipment like the tunnel and maybe some puppy foundation work if we have time - we are a lot further along than I expected as training in multiple disciplines really seem to suit her learning style. Jumping at low heights, 2o/2o, see-saw, table, tyre, start line stays, flat work, front crosses, tunnel, intro to 2x2 weaves - basically everything that I would want to do given her age. FHRP
Looks like it's been another great year for DOLers in training and trial Update on my boys. It's been an up and down year for me, but my competition boys have done OK. Rogan - To remain sound enough to contiue competing regularly in agility in 2011. At 8.5 and a large dog, he's probably not going to be as competitive as he has been but I'd like to get the 10 multipliers on all his agility titles!! He has them (and more) in the Open classes, is nearly there in JDM but a long way off on ADM ADM may not happen in 2011, but I hope he's stays sound enough to eventually get there. Not, that I ever actually apply for the multiplier titles, but I might if he gets 10 in everything Well, up until the past week Rogan has remained sound and competed regularly at local trials, although we chose not to travel much this year. We didn't get the 10 multiplier in ADM, 5 more Qs to go! He's got them plus more in the other classes though. He did win our Training Club, Vizsla Club and Gundog Club's Agility Dog Of The Year (or equivilant) point score awards and our training club's Clear Round award for the 4th time in 5 years Not bad for a 9.5 year old dog! - I am considering having yet another go at Tracking. Nope, no time or motivation. - If Rally is offered around here, have a go at that! Next year Polo - To get him weaving consistently!! Not quite as consistent as I'd like! Enough to get us through Novice, but it's still a work in progress - To gain his SD, SPD, GD & AD?? titles! Yep, all of those :D Plus a few 'X' passes. - To compete in a Field Trial Scary stuff!!! Yes!!! Our biggest achievement I thoroughly enjoyed training for Field Trials and Polo exceeded all my expectations winning his first ever trial (although only a NQ trial) and gained his Novice Field Dog title - To compete in an All Age stake at a retrieving trial More scary stuff!! Well, Polo didn't compete in an AA stake, but I did! I ran his sire in a trial, and got through. Too busy training for field to train for AA. - To train all UD exercises and maybe enter a trial or two. Not quite. Training has started, but a long way to go. - To train for the Open Utility Gundog Ability Test and perhaps compete if the Open class is offered next year. No test offered and no formal training for this event, but with his field exposure I am fairly confident he is nearly there anyway.
Guest Panzer Attack!
Well, just to make everyone else feel awesome, our year was a spectacular fail 1. Train him to pass the Delta dog assessment. I'd love him to do hospital/school visits Nope. 2. Complete show training. Ha! He had to be desexed. Good bye dream of having a show dog. 3. Finish the first bracket of Obedience Training (we did our intro yesterday and it was SO FUN!!!!) LOL! Only had time for one class. Lol. 4. Develop a really, really good recall. Still crap. Sometimes wont look at me in the house if I'm holding a piece of food in front of him. 5. Have him be able to work off-lead without running away. Lol! 6. Find a dog sport to participate in. Nope. 7. Complete Crate Games. Hahaha. 8. Go 30 days without an accident inside (dog, not me). He is a nightmare to toilet train! But we'll persevere. I'm clearly doing something wrong. Lol forever. Every time I think he's got it he pisses inside again. 9. Get him eating reliably and build food drive. He mostly eats half his food but still doesn't really care enough. 10. KEEP BUILDING LOVE OF TUG! This one is the only one I've done and it's mostly because he shoves toys into your face until you tug with him. pie
My update - bit of a mixed bag, didnt accomplish all that I wanted with Kyzer, got some things but not all, but very happy with Trixie's year. KYZER - Raise the bar in training, work on more control and more distance, better faster contacts hmmm didn't really get this bit - a slight improvement in distance I suppose, contacts are still pretty hit and miss in trials, though hit more often than miss at least - I'd like to start entering open agility & jumping sometime next year, need to get my confidence up first! Did it a few times, his last JDO was good - failed the distance but he was very happy and with me - just what I am after - Get that last JDX leg then onto Masters :D Yes we got the JDX title, and have dabbled a bit in masters, results ranging from so close to disastrous - Carry our new positive agility attitude through to ADX and start getting some ADX passes - title would be nice but I'm not focusing on it too hard - our last AD pass took ages to get - I just want a happy dog and we'll go from there. He's getting better.... we have a few ADX quallies, and one ADX qually that was probably the best run we have ever had and is what I am aiming for, just trying to work out how it happened it was just super - Solve our new problem that has appeared - zoomies Only happening in Jumping though - get those zoomies under control! Zoomies haven't surfaced this year - Do some training at other venues and start doing more trials away from K9 Didn't really do this... most away trials seemed to fall on dates when I was away or had other things on - will keep at it next year - I know it sounds cliche but keeping it positive and fun is a big priority, it's easy to get carried away with the seriousness of it all and sometimes I just need a gentle reminder to keep it light - it's just a hobby I have been trying and we are getting better at this TRIXIE - Step up the training with both obedience and agility, keep it fun fun fun! Happy with what I've done, not sure she'll ever be CCD ready but have been having fun doing heelwork, dumbbell retrieves, other things. Agility training has been her focus this year with good results, and yes it has been fun fun fun - Teach her 2x2 weaves over the Summer Did that - they're still not brilliant thugh - will work on speed and accuracy next year / over this summer - Hopefully enter her in her first jumping or agility trial in the second half of the year - but don't want to enter her until she is doing excellent level courses at training consistently This happened :D Have entered her in the last 4 trials - very very pleased with how she has done, she got her JD title in 3 runs, has one more pass to get her AD title, and has had a debut in JDX, the runs she didn't pass only had one mistake in each and her attitude is just brilliant - I hope she stays like this always!!! She just doesn't know the meaning of the words "shut down" even when she has scared herself by smashing a spread and is proving to be very reliable - I just love love love my girl - Would like to enter her in a CCD trial - this is a tough goal for us with a lot of work ahead Unless they let us do SFE on two legs Hmmm nope Can't see her doing CCD to be honest but we'll see down the road - Start training some rally exercises too. Hmmm not really, just been doing some obedience stuff, not Rally specific, maybe I'll step it up next year since there will actually be trials. Bring on next year Edited December 12, 2011 by amypie
Starkehre
Well, I have no idea how far I will get through this list next year, but here goes... JAG - CCD + CD + ET titles + maybe get to a Tracking trial or 2, time permitting, so perhaps a pass or 2 on the way to TD. To have him over all reactivity would be an absolute blast. I think we are on our way there DYZNEY - HSBs + HSAd + maybe CDX (big maybe on the CDX, will depend on time plus her ability to stay fit for the jumping side) + hopefully TD title. Also for Dyzney and actually most importantly, keep her fit and healthy and alive. If she does not achieve any passes or titles next year, I will not be disappointed. I am happy to have her alive and well and that is all that matters. I also would like us to gain her Neuter Ch Title, but ot is a matter of how many affiliates will run neuter classes here in Vic. Going interstate takes a lot of time and organisarion. FAME - min 1 V rating + any points towards Champ title + CCD. She is only 5 months now, so we keep her list to baby steps ME - lose weight and get fit so I have the energy and passion to do all the training required to achieve the above :D Well, I didn't even recall doing this list, so was surprised to find it here. Well, we fell short in some areas and achieved more in others... Jag - achieved his CCD Title, but stopped there in Obedience. We quit the idea of ET as he can be a bit reactive on the biked... my knees do not like road gravel rash Jag achieve one HT pass and will be doing more herding next year. Dyzney - Unfortunately I did not do any Herding, Obedience or Tracking trialling with Dyzney, but she has over half of her points towards her Neuter Champion title. Still hoping for the illusive HSBs and maybe HSAd next year. We have enjoyed herding training and keeping her fitness up, but she is really loving being back in the all breeds ring. Fame - was my little star this year. She is ending the year with her Aust Champ Title and 2 V ratings. Fame achieved one of her CCD passes and gained HT and PT Herding titles... all by 16 months of age. She is currently in Agility training and we hope to achieve min. 2 Novice Agility titles next year, finish off her CCD title, gain a few more V ratings if we can and maybe do ET, time permitting. leopuppy04
hmm... well I think Leo's is a repeat of his 2009/2010 wish list Leo Well I'd like him to still be trialling in agility and not an old fart just yet . I'd really like him to pick up his ADM (2 more to go) and JDM (5 more to go) titles - PLEASE leo keep those bars up! 1/2 done he got his ADM this year, and only has 2 more passes to go for his JDM, 1 more to go for his ADO and 2 more to go for his JDO, so all in all I think he had a great trialling year! Those JDM passes are hard to come by for a 'slower' and now older dog. It hurts as he's really consistent, usually running clear but JUST over time! I'd really like him to get his UD title, or at least passes towards it. Once again, hard to get when you pull him out for 6mths. We've had some great rounds, so I need to not be a wuss and just keep entering him! He is SOOOO close! His Neuter Champion Title Hard to get when VIC are not holding the shows! He is *almost* there, not far to go now and he's got a lovely amount of Neuter in Shows to go with his title chasing also To remain happy, healthy and the wonderful dog that he is! Check! Kinta I'd like Kinta to achieve her CDX, ADX and JDM titles!!! Not much of a list is there! She has the potential to do it if she keeps her brain in the right spot!! I'd also like her to continue growing the confidence that she has been lately and to remain the lovely dog that she is! Check! She gained her CDX title at the end of 2010 at the final trial of the year, and also gained a 3rd place pass in CDX at the Melbourne royal and an additional 2 CDX passes to go towards her top dog quallies. She gained her ADX and JDM titles on the same day WITHOUT me handling her and did it in fine style gaining an additional ADX pass also. She also gained another JDM pass at the Royal winning her 'fastest Aussie in trial'! Zara I'd like her to continue to mature and turn into a nice show dog that judges will at least look at! To learn that there IS value for agility and channel that drive for her dad so that they can have fun practicing agility together! IF we decide to breed with Zara I hope for happy, healthy babies and a stress free pregnancy and whelping!!! Breeding didn't happen as she was a little unwell this year but her agility training has come in leaps and bounds for her daddy and they are doing SO well. She's also maturing into a lovely girl! The ugly duckling DID turn into a swan Tahli Hmm... to grow up into a lovely, drivey speedy adult with a great temperament and a promising show career (with some points to her name)!! Check! She has some lovely points and nice wins, but the competition is tough over her! And she's still the same nutbag!
ish
Chili - get her CD title and train for Open, if that goes well, perhaps try some trials. I'm not sure if my nerves will stand up to doing out of sight stays with her! Achieved her Novice title as I'd hoped, including a couple of Excellent gradings at a GSD club trial She's well on the way to trialling in Open next year too - yay! Monza - train him in drive and work towards trialling. Would like to have his CCD and be getting ready for novice in 2011 Bit of a delay starting Monza this year, due to my own motivation - but since the 2nd half of the year his training has been coming along in leaps and bounds. We did a couple of CCD trials but haven't cracked a pass yet - my fault though for rushing his training. Next year I'm sure he will be competing at a high standard. Termi - continue with clicker training and teach her the exercises relating to trialling, with the ambition to trial in 2012 Nope ET titles for Yoshi, Termi and Xilla Nope - though I did do the ET with Chili, and she passed :)Yoshi and Termi were held up with litter plans, and silly me, Xilla wasn't old enough until AFTER the ETs for 2011 were run!
