Loraine
OK put the crate up, let him in and out of it - fine! Bed time - OH dear, he wants to go to the bedroom, put him in the crate and close it up. God to my bed. I hear him once let out a blood curdling yell , then all was quiet. This morning awoke to find his name disc on the floor of the crate, the 'O' ring torn wide open, he had pooped on his bed, and he had bent one of the side rails. Hooley dooley what kind of dog have I got Hopefully tonight will be better, as I will also removed his collar before he goes into the crate. The Good as Gold does not appear to be having any effect on his middle of the night antics, and his Endep is no doing it either. Time for the dog psychic to come and see if she can find our ghost. fifi
You have the patience of a saint Lorraine, I think by this point I would have picked up a squillion valium tablest, with one for the dog and one for the hoooman at bedtime !!! Have you tried covering his crate ? having a radio on ? Sorry, I've only skimmed your other posts about your boy due to time contraints. fifi
Loraine
Well the second night was worse. He howled and cried on and off all night (I got 4 hours sleep). I ignored the racket, hoping he would get used to it. This morning I got up at 0530 and found he had scraped and inch square of skin off the top of his nose, his two front feet pads were bloodied . Called my vet and dragged the ratbag up there at 0930. His general health checks out OK. I have to bathe his feet and nose in salt water twice a day, give him anitbiotics twice a day for 4 days, up his Endep from 10 to 15 mg twice a day, and not put him back in the crate with its door closed. He quite likes wandering in and out during the time I am in the room. I am going to contact the psychic vet again this week and see what comes of that. My vet is as flummoxed as am I, and she also suggested getting an exorsist for him :D I shall be getting Laura Bird to come around and see what she can detect. Fifi I have come oh so close to wringing his neck, never mind drugging the lad, killing was on my mind in the early hours of the morning.
noisymina
I agree. Sometimes there IS a case for using DRUGS. Knock him out! ;) That means YOU won't need drugs. It's the dog or me! When the vet recommends an exorcist, you know you have issues. No that I've ever had an exorcist recommendation from a vet. :D sorry - I know lack of sleep is not so funny after a while. I do admire your sense of humour under duress. :D

Loraine
The vet and I are hoping that the increase in Endep will do the trick. But I will be calling the psychic vet, as when Zedley goes to bed he goes to sleep, no probs. but he wakes up between 0130 and 0200 and tried to break out of the glass windows, dig the concrete under the gates - he seems scared and he really just wants to escape the property, not just the odd room. I am determined to get some sleep and I am determined to sort his problem, and if I have to get an exhorcist then dang me I will

schnauzer
Poor dog. Have you checked you don't have rats/possums in your roof? Dogs can hear what we don't and it could be frightening him. Have you tried a DAP? They can work wonders with anxiety

Jigsaw
Your boy sounds pretty extreme. I hope you've both had some decent sleep. If the increased dosage of Endep doesn't help have you thought of a vet specialising in neurology? They're probably not that common but I'm sure there are a few around. Their eyes are wide open and they talk and walk around. I couldn't find any good videos on youtube, but I have watched it on a doco on tv.. It is kind of freaky to watch. I would be taking the dog to a therapist before a psychic. Could also be possums etc. like someone suggested, but sounds like your dog is really freaked out, by what ever it is. fifi
ACP what does this stand for? ACP /ACE Acetolpromazine = a sedative tablet. often used for travel sickness. have to be very careful with it though, can cause respiratory depression. Lorraine, is it ONLY at night he is displaying these behaviours ? fifi
