Ons
Moselle I'm so sorry to hear about Sophie. RIP Sophie, run free at Rainbow Bridge. My Tilly's mother (golden retreivers) was taken to the vet for her annual checkup, everything perfect, six weeks later was put to sleep because of cancer :D My Onslow's Dad (again a golden retriever) died of cancer. It's a horrible disease hitting our beloved.

tez
How very very sad for you and your family! Take the time to grieve for your Sophie and remember that you gave her the best life for 8 years and also the best death...no lingering suffering or pain. Saying goodbye is just too hard sometimes but to help them on their way painfree is the last best thing we can do. :D

JulesP
I'm sorry to read this Moselle. :D It is good that you got to say goodbye. I've had a few friends that have had to get their dogs put to sleep after the vet has opened them up and found cancer. I've always thought I would want to say goodbye. I lost my heart dog this year. She was 15yo. There is just never a good age or a good way to go. It all hurts the same. I always thought it would be nice if they slipped away in their sleep but when my old cat did just that it still hurt the same. RIP Sophie
baifra
Rest easy Sophie :D It sounds like Sophie was ready to go to the bridge and she would have been so proud of you having to make such a brave decision to let her go. Take care and know Sophie is always with you.

kendall
So very sorry for your loss It was a very similar scenario with my boy Diesel. Mostly fine the day beforehand (slightly off his food), massively downhill the next - not moving, pale gums, vomiting. The vet thought it was a splenic tumour and that if it was he may have been ok with removal. They operated, but it turned out to be minor in his spleen but all through his liver We had to make that awful awful decision to give him his wings. It was just all so sudden We miss him. Run free Sophie. Hugs to you. I know how hard it is and the suddeness of it all is heartbreaking. My thoughts are with you :D Edited November 13, 2010 by kendall
