Thanks for the help.

We will take her food out of the freezer and put it in the fridge section in the mornings instead of the night before. That way it will be a bit harder when we feed it that night.. Will see what she does with that.

I also told the guys I think we should leaver her outside for a while after she has eaten - just in case she is gulping her food in order to get back inside faster.

Who knows what going through her head?

NM some dogs just guts their food no reason except they eat fast...i have one of those  so she gets every bone frozen...and the other good thing about that is it takes her longer to eat it!!!

i think its a good idea to leave her out after she has eaten the bone so she doesnt gulp it down to get in

Update - she just chucked tonight's dinner too.

Mince and three chicken necks.

I'm thinking we might have a problem on our hands.

Will watch her very closely tomorrow.

If I see it again, that will mean a vet visit, me thinks.

I'll stop all but one of the meds/supplements she is on for now, just in case they are to blame.

buggar...when jaxx is feeling unwell i give her only a little food mostly cooked rice and some cooked (boiled chicken) and maybe some cooked pumpkin (if she has the squirts)

the rice and chicken seem to settle her tummy.

hope she is alright

Yeh. I gave her a very small amount to dry late last night. And it stayed down.

She had her light brekky - and I THOUGHT it stayed down, but can't be sure.

Tonights dinner was oin the small side, tho.

So will keep to small (without bones or add ons) and watch more carefully.

She does not seem unwell in any other way. No temp, no hard or touchy tummy. Still widdling. Active - the old girl still has a spring in her step.

So I'm not panicking just yet.

Does she eat really fast and then chuck it?

My red boy does that with chicken legs and wings. He eats it sooo quickly, just slightly chewing to break the bones a bit and then it comes back up nearly straight away and he eats it again. So maybe if you left her to it she'd eat it again?

Yes - she did that once before. I think she would have done it again if we'd let her.

Gross isn't it?

I was concerned originally about avoiding it as I can think of worse things happeneing when she swallows something like that.

But she chucked tonight too - different mix - no big bones.

She used to gulp when we first got her, but she has not for a long time. The food is ususally at least half frozen - which had slowed her. It will need to be more frozen, it seems.

I think it's the new mince. I THINK it has Kangaroo in it.

When she chucked the Turkey neck, she had also had a small amount of the mince in that feed.

Tonight, I sent out the mince on it's own with her medcine in it, planning to take the Turkey out later and "supervise" closely.

She chucked the mince straight back at DH.

I later took her out and gave her a half BARF patty which went down ok

Later still, I took out the Turkey and made her, sort of, eat it slowly. It stayed down too.

She's never had me hold onto her bones before, but she was good girl. :D

I recently dog sat my daughters two little dogs. For dinner I gave them kibble with a bit of kangaroo mince mixed in. The girl dog chucked hers up straight away ...it looked like a big sausage, & she proceeded to re-eat it straight away (it staid down). The second night the same thing happened & the third night she got just kibble & egg & she didn't chuck. So I figured it was the roo mince.

Yeh - she does tend to gulp down the food. Always has to some degree.

But the only chucks have involved the mince. She hasn't chucked the other. The amount of mince she had tonigth was about 2 tablespoons! That is not a big gulp for a Dobe. She knocked back an equivalent amount of BARF mince and them a large Turkey neck without the same result.

Yes sheena .....it is INSTANT chuck! She was not keen on it much to start with, my OH said. She was not in a hurry to re-eat either. But was REALLY keen on the other stuff I gave her. Can't say she was being finicky. She did try.
