samoyedman
It looks quite ingenious the way it works. Its like a slicker brush you activate with a trigger and when you release the trigger all the accumulated fur gets sucked down the vacuum. http://www.dyson.com.au/vacuums/groom/suitability.asp They even have a 1800 number you can call to see if its suitable for your dog. If it works for samoyeds it would be like a gift from heaven Would be interested to hear about its effectiveness from any DOLér who may have one. sheena
Looks great...but I think a lot of dogs would freak out if you put the vacuume cleaner on them
KateAndDuke
I am liking the idea of this a lot. Considering the stuff my Dyson gets out of the carpet, it should work wonders on the dog. It would be nice to stop seeing tumbleweed-like fluffs floating around the house. My dog isn't a great fan of the vacuum cleaner though.
samoyedman
For those interested I called up the 1800 Dyson number and they said it suits nearly all medium/long haired dogs except for the curly types like poodles and pulis. I ordered one (you can't buy in shops only Dyson site online) and it arrived today. I'll give it a whirl this weekend and add my thoughts about its performance to this thread. PupPup
I'd be interested to see how you go. I saw these as well but I don't know if my boy will sit still long enough. Would be fantastic if it works though.

Erny
Looks great...but I think a lot of dogs would freak out if you put the vacuume cleaner on them :D That's much a matter of the right approach and taking it easy with the introduction of it. ie Desensitision or habituation. Yep, and remember you are not vacuuming the dog with this attachment. You use the slicker to remove fur then activate it away from the dog to suck down the fur into the vacuum. So the only real fear the dog has to get over is the sound of the vacuum itself. My dog is the biggest coward on 4 legs so if he can tolerate it any dog can :-)

So is the the vacuum cleaner running all the time you are using this attachment on the dog or do you have the thing on the vacuum cleaner without the motor running...groom the dog, then turn it on :D Edited November 11, 2010 by sheena
HugUrPup
My dogs are fine with a hairdryer so I doubt the vacuum would be an issue. I actually used to use a normal vacuum on Ollie, but it didn't help much. I'd love to try this Dyson thing though.
