merijigs
I am not involved with the organisation of this show but since I am a local I thought I could help by giving exhibitors a heads-up on the change of venue. The venue for this weekend's show has been changed from Bemboka sportsground to Nimmitabel Showground due to increasing problems with bindii-type prickles at Bemboka. For exhibitors travelling from Canberra or other parts inland, your journey via Cooma to Nimmitabel will be 20-30 minutes shorter. For exhibitors travelling from coastal regions, your journey will be 20-30 minutes longer and will include going through Bemboka then up the Brown Mountain to Nimmitabel. The Brown Mountain has a steepish grade and 2 or 3 hairpins. The road is well sealed and signage advice is good. There is plentiful unpowered camping at the Nimmitabel Showground and the facilities are good. Powered campsites are available at the Camping Ground in Nimmitabel. The Showground is about 5 min.s drive from the main street and is well grassed. The Nimmitabel Lions Club will be catering for the show and the Nimmitabel Country Club (in the town) will be offering a hot casserole on rice for dinner on the Friday night and a hot roast dinner on the Saturday night. I have suggested that they be prepared to take orders for dinners during the afternoons and deliver them to folk camping at the Showground. For anyone at the Camping Ground, it is right beside the Country Club. This late change of venue must be a big decision for the organisers and the Nimmitabel community are a little unsure of what to expect but the goodwill is plentiful so please do come and ask for anything you need.
