Hi Guys,

I know that I can add carrot and apple and pumpkin to increase the fibre content of a diet - do you guys have any other suggestions.

My friends Chi just came back from the vet with a ruptured anal gland (ouch) - and he has told her to increase the fibre content to help prevent any future re-occurance and possible surgery.

He is currently fed on Pro-Plan small breed and raw bones.

Thanks in advance guys!

One of my girls had a problem with Ananl glads and needed more fibre, the vet suggested Metamucil mixed in with her food, I wasn't keen on this idea so just used the main ingredient in the metamucil which is physillium husks. Got it from the health food shop. She doesn't need to have it all the time but if I feel she needs it I can make her some food and pop it in. She hasnt had any trouble with her glands now for about 2 years so it definatley worked for us.

Psyllium husks get my vote..and a bit more bone

Exercise seems to help too.

Oh this little fella is VERY active - thats how she knew he was off last night, he barley moved when they came home and normally he is a constant whirlwind!
