Rayvale
Hi Guys, I know that I can add carrot and apple and pumpkin to increase the fibre content of a diet - do you guys have any other suggestions. My friends Chi just came back from the vet with a ruptured anal gland (ouch) - and he has told her to increase the fibre content to help prevent any future re-occurance and possible surgery. He is currently fed on Pro-Plan small breed and raw bones. Thanks in advance guys!
poodlefan
Psyllium husk is a good option. So is dry baked, boiled or mashed (no butter) pumpkin.
tlc
One of my girls had a problem with Ananl glads and needed more fibre, the vet suggested Metamucil mixed in with her food, I wasn't keen on this idea so just used the main ingredient in the metamucil which is physillium husks. Got it from the health food shop. She doesn't need to have it all the time but if I feel she needs it I can make her some food and pop it in. She hasnt had any trouble with her glands now for about 2 years so it definatley worked for us.

Skruffy n Flea
i add psyllium husk [about a third t/spoon] also but i'm unsure of how much... bella and bryon are 7 kg and bob [the kitty] is 3 or so kg --- i feed twice a day but add PH to only one of their meals. how much PH should i be adding to their food? tia
Pugmum
My 10 kg girl was able to have up to a tablespoon with each meal (ate twice a day). I mix it in with some plain yogurt and she loved it.
