Following on from all that glitters's recent incident ... I thought I should pass on this police media release. So if you are out walking your dog any time of the day or night make sure you are aware of what is happening around you...

Suspicious behaviour, Ashgrove

Police are investigating a report of suspicious behaviour in Ashgrove yesterday afternoon following reports that a man approached a woman who was letter box dropping in the area.

Initial investigations suggest that the woman was standing at the intersection of Waterworks Road and Jubilee Terrace around 12.30pm when the male passenger of a white van called out to her.

She ignored this and continued walking before entering The Esplanade to continue dropping letters.

It is believed the same van came up behind her and offered her a lift which she refused.

Further remarks were made by the man but the van drove away when an older model dark blue or green coloured hatchback entered the street.

The van is described as a white Mitsubishi work van with white panels instead of windows, at the time the vehicle did not display any registration plates and it is believed the small Mitsubishi tag on the back of the van only displayed the letters ‘MITS’.

The man is described as being Caucasian with a fair complexion, in his late 50s, with dark grey messy hair and a dark grey bushy moustache, approximately 180cm tall and of a proportionate build. He was wearing a dark navy blue t-shirt, navy blue trousers and work boots. He spoke with an Australian accent.

Police would like to speak to the driver of the hatchback who entered The Esplanade around 12.40pm and are appealing to anyone who was in the area to think back and come to police with any information that could assist.

Anyone with information which could assist police with their investigations should contact Ferny Grove CIB on 3872 1566 or Crime Stoppers anonymously via 1800 333 000 or crimestoppers.com.au 24hrs a day.

Crime Stoppers is a charitable community volunteer organisation working in partnership with the Queensland Police Service.
