pim314
hi i'm not sure if posting in right section of the forum. i need an advice. i have 3 year old shar pei (will be in November). some time over 16 month ago he had an inflammation on his back leg. i gave him a quarter of disprin and the inflammation gone in 2 hours. last week it came back (on same leg as last time) for same short period after disprin. did any one experienced something similar with their dogs? should i suspect something more serious, i.e. shar pei fever or hogs disease? any comment/advise much appreciated. persephone
Hi- What do you mean by 'an inflammation' ? Was there a red area, an area that was swollen...bigger than usual, and hot to touch? was there pain? was the dog holding up his leg and /or limping? A visit to your vet would be the best ... he knows your dog, and can soon see what is wrong/different. He can also provide you with medecine to help, plus managing it if it is an ongoing thing. oops- forgot. There are shar pei folks on here who may help you more with the shar pei/hock disease aspect . Danois
I'd recommend vet. I had a boy who had a swollen hock which felt squishy. Did not cause him to limp. It would come up and go down. Turns out he had an immune mediated disease (immune mediated poly arthritis).
