~Shepherd~
I blow my girls coat rather than vacuum, 2 people I know well swear by the Hoover method. I am sure they are not the only ones.
Golden Rules
I tried to vacuum the hairy dog, he hated it and took off so I'm back to vacuuming the floor instead.
Guest Pandii
I vaccum mine, he tolerates it, but cant mind it to much, he stays laying down, just gives me foul looks The cats wont stay still to be vaccummed
poodlemum
No need to vacuum the Poodles , but I used to have a GSP who just LOVED being vacuumed - he would lie there with a dreamy expression on his face ETA - Poodles, like nature, abhor a vacuum Edited October 30, 2010 by poodlemum
keroppiyo
Do you guys seriously use a vacuum on your dogs? I ask this cos someone at work once mentioned that to me, but I wasn't sure if he was joking. It sounds like a great idea, but wouldn't the suction be too strong? Looks at the Cavs....looks back at the 'hair bunnys' bouncing under the side table.....just bought a variable strength vacuum...I wonder

wuffles
Mum used to vacuum my childhood dog who was a CKCS. He just sat there with a disgusted look on his face. Can't vacuum my two as they are gone as soon as the vacuum gets within about a metre of them
keroppiyo
I see. I can't adjust the suction on our vacuum. Buffy always lies right in the middle of whichever room I'm vacuuming, so I constantly vacuum right around her, but never contemplated actually vacuuming her. Maybe I'll try with the cordless handheld vacuum
lanabanana
I dont even have a vacuum....but I think Barney would hate it. When you get a blow dryer anywhere near him he starts attacking it.
Greytmate
When I vacuum, Coconut and Goldie go to another room. Woody won't move, even though I am trying to vacuum where he is. So I vacuum him on one side, roll him over, vacuum under him, roll him back the other way and vacuum his other side. He doesn't mind, unless his ear gets sucked in, then he squeaks and tries to bite the nozzle.
BigPaws
I tried using the vaccuum cleaner on one of my dogs previously but she was very uncomfortable and hated it. I imagine it probably hurt. Maybe certain breeds are ok with this and it depends on the coat?
dianed
I tried vacuuming Sophie when I got her as a youngster. She hated it and even now when I get the vacuum cleaner out of the cupboard she,s off. Btw she turns 13 today so she is having a lazy day!
silentchild
I wish I could vacuum mine, but she's completely convinced the vacuum is a dog-eating monster and disappears as soon as it comes out.
sas
LOL I clicker trained Dante to accept vaccuming with the small attachment.

My Cavs LOVE the blow dryer, whenever I'm drying my hair they come running into the bathroom and love it when I blast them with it!
becks
You can buy various grooming attachements for the vacuum. On a recent infomertial, there was even an long extention that has a tube going to a bucket that collects the dog hair then another tube that reaches to the dog with a brush on the end of the tube, this way the vacuum can be in another room and not upset the dog! Shaar
This might sounds like a crazy idea but... I just brush my dogs... gets all the hair out and gets rid of tangles. Gentler on the ear drums too.

BCPuppy
I wish, I only have to open the cuboard where the vac is kept and Marlin runs and hides, she hates it :p Now if it came to being able to use the floor mop on her, well she tries to eat that :p
