Dumb Question On Neuter & Veterans

Steve has just asked me if we could ever show Mac, our old JRT in neuter or in veterans.

He is on Main Register BUT was diagnosed with corneal dystrophy as a baby and desexed (so I figure that cuts out Veterans) and I wouldn't show him BUT could I? I figure as he is on Main Register I could purely from a rules point of view. Wouldn't do it as he is not a good example, particularly given his corneal dystrophy, but I'm curious about whether or not it is possible.

Just want to make it VERY clear I do not wish to show Mac, he is nearly 11, he is blind, he is a desexed pet, just curious about whether it is possible.

I believe veterans can be neuters- well at least at specialty shows.

*Except in QLD* Veterans entered into a Veterans CLASS must be entire. It is my understanding that because of some bizarre ruling, Veterans SWEEPSTAKES is a different story! From memory, this was clarified at the most recent ANKC meeting.

In QLD, you are allowed to enter a desexed/neutered dog in Veterans CLASS as long as the dog/bitch is PROVEN. ie. Has registered progeny.

Yes, Speciality shows also have their own definition.

Hypothetically Trisven, your dog would need to be transferred to the "Main-Neuter" register as suggested by someone else and then could be shown in Neuter classes - I think you'd be pushing it to find a Neuter Veteran Class LOL :( .

I might be wrong but

A veteran can be shown desexed in a sweepstakes or where they do not compete for challenge. Where the veterans are inlcuded in the CC line up, they have to be entire, as only entire dogs and bitches are eligable for points.

He could be shown as a "neuter" , which is excluded from the CC line up ( now has a CC line up of their own, just to confuse things further ) or he could be entered in a neuter sweepstakes.

ETA but apparently QLD likes to do their own thing :D which is a bit of a joke given they don't want to recognise neuter champs :D
