shortstep
I'm working from the USA with someone who has one of my puppies. Ok, older puppies. The first time she was rayed her hips came out 2:2 and her elbows came out 3:2. The person is an optimist and had the girl re-exrayed and sent the rays in to Wyburn a second time the scores were hips 1:1 and elbows 2:1 (1 mm on the worst elbow). There are no comments about poor placement or poor exray quality.X Each Xrays will be different, even if properly positioned. 1mm is a tiny difference when talking about placing a dog for any xray. the measurements will then vary due to very slight differences in the xrays. To drop across the board equally by 1mm, does not seem strange to me and actually confirms the condition of both the hips and elbows in this dog. I think people take scores as absolutes, they are not. Give the same xray to 3 different scorers and you will get 3 slightly different scores. Take 3 xrays by 3 different vets and give them to the same scorer and chances are you will get slightly different scores on each xray. They should however be in the same range and you need to think in ranges or generalization, rather then absolute numbers. Think of it using the OFA ranges, Excellent, Good, Fair and so on. For example, this dog rated Excellent on hips both times. Hope that makes sense. To me the dog has very good hips and the elbows are not good.
