AmandaJ
I really must find out what is so "to die for" in Bonnies mouth that all the birds around here are willing to commit suicide to find out.... She now averages a bird every 2 days - those are the ones we find! :D
dunnwarren
I know how you feel, I had suicidal chooks once. They kept flying into a certain dog run, I would go up at night to feed the dogs and only feathers left. The dog ate well though lol.
ash&elar
We have suicidal ducks here, who fly out of their coop. Walk around the farm (only 2 of the 5) together have a blast and then when the dogs notice them and go to tease them they just waddle/run instead of fly away even though their really good flyers, lucky Julie obviously has a soft mouth and also only got tail as I had to tell her to drop one when I had her out and didnt see the duck in time. noisymina
Our Noisy Miners have this habit. I suspect the dog grabs them when they dive-bomb the cat. They like drowning in horse troughs, too. (We have the native ones) Then there are the Rainbow Lorikeets (and more Noisy Miners) that think they can fly through our windows. If the dog and cat are inside, they usually come to and fly off. Some times the dog and/or cat are outside and I am not here - or I an too slow to get out there and save them. smooch
I have had some drown in water troughs as well, Now I put a piece of timber in the trough and no more drowned birds.
persephone
Yes- please float a board in troughs for birds to clamber up onto - young birds especially tend to drown :D
noisymina
Yeh - I soon reralised the problem and put sticks in so they could get out - and tried to keep the containers as full as possible. Not a problem now - don't have horse any more.
HeavyPaws
I can imagine the birds calling the hotline "I can't take it anymore! I'm gonna do a Bonnie!"
t-time
I'm of the informed opinion that the birds don't realise Bonnie is a dog.... they think it's a lovely soft blankie that they are perching on!
