ellz
Our visitors - well, the female half of our visitors - hates dog shows, she gets dragged around them in Victoria, I think she would kill me if I dragged her to one while she was on holidays I'll just have to have a chat to Neo about winning Junior in Group Weeellllllll.....drag her into New Norfolk to look at Antique Shops and the beautiful scenery around the area, including the wonderful Esplanade and OOOOOOOPS there just happens to be a dog show on and you MUST meet my new Tasmanian friends whilst you are here!! ~Midniara~
I just found this thread after being told all about it at Dogfest yesterday. I always miss the fun. I was entered but wasn't well enough to come to royals and so I missed out. Dogfest was fun though. Well Dogfest was interesting... I managed to end up married to Mr Rajacadoo doo doo and towards he end of the day I magically became one of their children. Allerzeit, I did go looking for you at dogfest yesterday until Rajacadoo told me you wouldn't be there. We keep missing each other. I would love to finally put a face to the name. Are you going to Huonville? Well I will definaltey look forward to some pics, Now make sure you take some before and after the B & W cans! You should definitely come for a visit to Tassie, if you can fit it in with a dog show we can each bring a plate of something and various alcoholic substances and make a day of it. I would love to finally put a face to the name. Are you going to Huonville? I wish I'd been there being loud as well! We spent the day escorting visitors around Mt Field and Cascade Brewery. We're not entered in anything else at this stage - next will probably be December (?) / January (?) - whatever is on at the showgrounds around that date, I'm sure I saw a few in the last Gazette. I wanted to enter the show on the 20th of November, but we will have visitors again - arghhh, same for the Huonville ones - OH's 60th birthday is on the 14th November, so we have about 10 family members coming over for a week!! ellz
Lucky you lot didn't have high 20's We had that on Sunday for Dogfest! It was surreal.....everybody getting sunburn and heatstroke at the same grounds which were surrounded by paddocks of white just the week prior. Darkrai, not sure if you've ever been to Tasmania, but many a mainlander "comes undone" in our Summers. They're not the easy cruise that people seem to think they are! :D
Darkrai
nope haven't been to Tassie yet.. What makes thier summers so bad??? to bring mainlander undone???
ellz
I was told today actually that the sun shines the brightest on Tasmania and apparently with the way the ozone layer is created, we don't have the filtering of the rays that other places have. We also don't have the humidity so many a mainlander has been very gung ho in apparently "cooler" temperatures and been very, very sunburnt and very ill with it. Many judges from the mainland have been quite surprised at our weather when they've judged here. One of the biggest advantages of our warmer days is that we don't tend to get week upon week of it as is experienced in other places. Up until the last few years, we'd get lovely days and cooler nights but that doesn't seem to be the case any more.
