zizzi
Hi i have just pasted this from the rescue forum and i hope it is ok. I am looking for as much experience and help as i can in the matter. Please delete if it is a problem to post this here. In summary i have a very large dog and would like a smaller dog as well to become a companion and lap dog. There is alot more info in the rescue section so here is the link if you think you have an opinion which may be able to help me out. Thankyou in advance all negative and positive comments are welcome i just want to do the exact right thing for both dogs
lanabanana
I have a large dog, and we got a tiny puppy (both fully grown no and one is about 40kgs and the other is 6) and I just brought the wee one in and put her on the ground and then let the big one in. Quite funny it was too because the puppy attacked the big dog and he stuck his tail between his legs and ran outside LMAO I don't think thats the advice you were after though LOL We don't make a big fuss of these things though and never do any "proper" introductions. We just bring them in together straight away and they just better accept each other. Probably a bit different if you are introducing two older dogs bt we follow the same thing there too, no fuss just do it. You will get way better advice from everyone else here though, mines a bit shit and probably not the right way at all LOLOL
CrazyCresties
We had a greyhound and introduced our small dogs just fine. We always took them for a walk together first and then back home to the garden for closer introductions. Like lanabanana said, our small ones ended up chasing the grey round the garden You know your large dog and his/her temperament - how is s/he with small dogs in general? zizzi
Just letting everyone know the meeting went extremely well. Both boys seem to have a very laid pack demeanour about them which surprised alot of kennel staff when putting opposite dogs together. Ziz walked out of the door and didnt even look at him. I told him to sit and stay while one of the ladys had his lead and i patted and rubbed the other dog ziz sniffed him and laid down next to him. the little fella came over and started smelling ziz and ziz just took it all and licked him which the little fella seemed to like because he laid down in front of him. The ladies and i still had hold of leads and were talking but the two boys just slept in the sun together while we were talking not a worry in the world. Im going back again on friday as i expressed to them the best way i could that i was still following other avenues and not wanting to rush into anything without atleast two meetings. It seems they will be fine but we kept them on lead today on friday we are going to put them in an exercise run and see how they react to each other.
