Boarding Kennels In Sa

We live in the Western Suburbs. We are looking for a good boarding kennel for our dogs for about 10 days over xmas / New Years'.

I don't want to send them just anywhere. They are old dogs, quite the odd couple and need to be kept together in a kennel that suits the two of them. Both still healthy and active - but older dogs need to go somewhere that keeps an eye on them at that (sometimes hot) time of year.

One of them (the female) is dog aggressive so they need somewhere they can get exercise in a yard that doesn't involve her mixing in with other dogs she doesn't know.

And I need to send their food with them. They need to stick with the food I give them - they can't stomach anything else these days.

Any recommendations?

Any recommendations?

Wendy & Rick at Murray Bridge Boarding Kennels. I was a very nervous first time boarder with my two Salukis and Wendy was FANTASTIC! :) They were together in the same kennel and exercised apart from other dogs.

I know it's a way to go from the Western Suburbs, though, but I think it's worth driving somewhere you can trust, esp. if you're nervous about it.

Suggest you go for a drive to several over the next few weeks and have a good look around.

Sonia

ETA You should get on to this quickly, because good kennels will already have lots of booking for that time.

Hi Zug Zug,

Haven't tried but have heard good reports of Keaton Boarding Kennels :)

Thanks!

Keaton have advised that while they still have a spot free at this stage, they can't take a dog that is dog aggressive because all the dogs exercise together so that won't work unfortunately.

I have left a message at Murray Bridge.

And yes it seems we've left it very late. Had a few PMs and contacted several places today, but most places appear to be booked out.

They're great, but it is very late to book there for Christmas too.

Good luck.

ETA - Here's a link to their website: http://www.mbbk.com.au/

Try calling them now, cos they're open between 4 - 5pm on Sundays for pick ups.

Another one you might want to try is the Adelaide Hills Pet Resort, in Nairne - our two just spent a night there came back happy hounds :D

The facilities seem very clean and professional, and the staff seemed to love our dogs (which helps!). Not sure you would have any luck with Christmas bookings, as they're always very busy....however you may want to try anyway.

Check out the Animal welfare league at wingfield. We used them years ago when we lived at west beach for our very very spoilt  :D lakelands and devon rexes and I was very pleased with their level of professionalism, cleanliness, heating, cooling, separate areas and high level of paperwork that covers EVERY single possibility. It may havve changed of course, at the time they also had an in house vet etc. and it IS completely separate from the refuge part (I was worried mine would get rehomed!! :D )

Last time I looked there a few years ago I found it depressing, clinical & reeking of disinfectant to the point where I couldn't breathe, dogs nose is more keen than mine. Depends what you want.

I would do the drive & check here for small dogs, looks fabulous & small number of small dogs only

If I had little dogs I would go here for sure:

I rang them to see if they would accept our Beagle. The lady was just lovely to talk to and very very honest about if it met our needs. There was some concern as they didn't normally take beagles and were worried she might dig her way out but happy to take her if she wasn't a digger (which she isn't) but we ended up with a friend oferring to look after her. If we ever need boarding for her I would call them again. I just wish there was something like this for bigger dogs. Luckily my parents always take the border collies.

Oh that's a bugger :D I have not used them for 19 years mind you.

When we move back I will need somewhere PERFECT for my two, looks like I'll need to have a very good look around. :(

No good for Zug Zug though as we are well and truely booked out for Christmas. Christmas is NUTS when you work in boarding kennels.

I cant praise Topspot kennels more highly, I would not send my dogs(and cat) anywhere else, they are caring and professional :rofl:

My dogs have just come home from a few days at Topspot and have been well cared for and loved, Abbie is a rescue dog and was an unknown quantity as to how she would cope but she was fine, Yogi is my spoilt little prince but is always happy to go to the kennels :)

OK, after a lot of phone calls I finally found one with a free room at christmas, and set up to keep dogs separate for exercise - Yay!!!

So they're all booked in to a place a friend from dog obedience club recommended to me this morning. Bencubbin. They are labrador breeders in Two Wells. He even comes to pick them up (for a fee) so that makes it nice and easy for hubby while I'm away.

Wow Bed and Biscuit looks amazing on the website. I rang them (and most of the others) today, but well and truly full at this stage. Well worth remembering for next time though, if we ever need to do this again.

I'm glad you like Topspot! :D During uni I only work once or twice a week so I must have missed Abbie and Yogi this time, hopefully I'll get to see them next time.

I second Pet Sitters Australia

Maybe keep us in mind for next time. I am one of the carers and have 10 years experience in the animal industry. We offer overnight care in your home, which we recommend for older dogs that may not cope with being boarded.

Good luck!
