becks
Hello,I was just wondering how old is your bitch. And how many litters has she previously had. Thank You Philip Ridge. It is rather a random email, I am not advertising any available dogs and haven't had a litter since April with no plans to breed anytime soon. Sandra777
You could ask him how old his wife is and how many kids she's had

Jed
Ask him why he wants to know. I had someone approach me years ago and ask me pretty well the same question. He believed that the second litter from the bitch was the best, and that is the one he wanted a pup from. Figured he had been smoking wacky weed But - I checked out all litters in subsequent years No difference. Maybe Phillip Ridge has been smoking the same weed??? Lowenhart
Instead of being a smart arse I'd reply: Thank you for your enquiry. We are not expecting puppies or planning on having any in the near future. And just leave it at that. If you want people to contact you, you are going to end up with silly emails like this in the mix. Polite and detached is all you need to be. becks
I followed fifis suggestion and still awaiting a reply! It didn't strike me as being a puppy enquiry, more of a 'can i have a cheap bitch to farm out a few litters from'

Very sensible approach, and exactly how I would expect a responsible, ethical and sensible breeder to reply to such an email!

It didn't strike me as being a puppy enquiry, more of a 'can i have a cheap bitch to farm out a few litters from' See I kinda saw it more like a feabile attempt to find out if you were a disreputable breeder. In any case I guess you got the outcome you wanted, them to go away.

Very sensible approach, and exactly how I would expect a responsible, ethical and sensible breeder to reply to such an email! I agree. And Lowenhart could be right - it might be someone checking up on breeders. With all of the hideous puppy farms/backyard breeders around these days I think more puppy buyers should be asking breeders these questions (granted, of course, in a much more polite manner) and we should be encouraging them to ask. This email wasn't top class enquiry material but I agree that polite replies can only help the reputation of registered breeders.
becks
I'm over the rude emails, they can get a polite reply when I get a polite enquiry. That type would probably mark you as a puppy farmer if you said 'which bitch'!
Parkeyre
Having not yet bred a litter; I don't get anywhere near as many weird emails as you all would. :D Thus far; I've only recieved expressions of interest for studs and leases. Not really looking forward to the crazy emails and scammers.
