Boarding Kennels?

As some of you may be aware we have just adopted a young female kelpie from mildura pound.

her arrival is hopefully on Tuesday. We also have my lovely Katie (Blue Heeler)

here's the dilemna..........

We are booked in for a romantic weekend away the following weekend in Sydney. My mum has kindly offered to take Skye into her home for the weekend as she will be unsettled and have stitches in place. She is not able to take Katie as well, this is too much for mum with 2 young dogs.

So will I book Katie in to the Kennel where she will have to stay for 3 nights due to drop off and pick up times or will I leave her at home with the two small cross breed dogs we have in our own run that she is used to. This would only be 1 night alone.

My mum is coming over on the saturday night to feed the small dogs and check on them, Katie is used to being in the run with them and I expect she'd be fine at home, but normally they do come and sleep inside. I know I will be worried (for no reason) about her digging out or something stupid like that. Not that she has ever done this before and the run is very safe with mesh fencing on the ground and why would she leave the other 2 dogs?

What are your opinions?

I worry about her being in a kennel for 3 nights as well as she is a very shy dog and probably will stress quite badly. She's the kind of dog who will suffer from stomach upset and it will put her back confidence wise quite a bit.

What to do??????

If it was me and I thought the dog would be quite upset going in to kennels I would go the option of her staying one night by herself.

Do you know of anyone that can stay overnight at your house as a house sitter???

I have a house sitter move in, as with all mine and one who needs daily medication and monitoring I find it a lot less stressful for all of us.

Home by herslef for one night is not so bad, especially considering your mum is checking on them
