RuralPug
On behalf of an online aquaintance (permission granted to cross post): Our family (mister + me & the 2 pug fur kids) are moving from Adelaide to Darwin in a couple of months. Obviously the heat is of primary concern to me with our two, and aircon is the number one priority for our housing (for them not us LOL), but was wondering if there are any helpful tips/things to be aware of that Darwin pug owners could share with me. thanks! I will pass on any responses - thanks in anticipation!!
newfsie
I never owned pugs in the NT, but ticks, ticks and more ticks...we alsways seemed to find ticks, even with all the meds we used as preventatives. Temp wise it is always about 33 C, but in the Summer time it is with the high humidity. Our dogs loved to swim and went into our pool a lot to cool off. We did not have aircon, just a well designed house and lots of fans. it makes it easier, because going in and out of aircon, you never get used to the heat. I must admit I have never missed living in Darwin
~Anne~
I assume you've advised the obvious such as - make sure the Pugs are slim. The leaner they are, the more easily they will handle the humidity. Also tell them to watch for hot spots if they are double coated with manes. They'll have no chance of aclimatising and will possibly suffer serious problems with the change if they are fat or obese.
