Furminator

We have two short haired JRT's. has anyone used a Furminator on short haired jacks? The older one has always shed quite heavily even with daily brushing with a mitt. the male does not appear to shed as much. I always thought that grooming combs such as these were for longer haired or dogs with a definite winter/summer coat.

Appreciate your advice - don't want to buy one and find it unsuitable

Yes, she still sheds but it makes the job much quicker and neater, all the hair comes out of the brush nice and easily in one piece instead of having a big mess everywhere

I use it on my Danes, no issues, just be careful you're not pushing down to hard and irritating the skin.

ive been looking at these for a while now, i think ill be getting one for my danes too. Ebay here i come

Yeah, dont forget to look on Ebay! They are less than half the price you would pay in the shops!

I use it on my pug and it works well, he still sheds but it is reduced. And as someone else said, make sure you dont put too much pressure on it when you are brushing.

Ebay has them for around $15 free delivery. I have seen them instores for around $50-$75.

wow the Furminator is brilliant!! I have just tried it out and found that letting that just the weight of the Furminator is enough to not hurt or irritate the dog. Could not believe how much fur it removed with just a few swipes.
