This is a good example of a news story about cruelty where I wish the detail was not in the title of the post. For a good long period of time today this was sitting on the DOL homepage and I found it difficult to keep reading "man beat doberman with hammer", and I'm not a particularly delicate person. And yes by posting I've put it back up there so I'll go find some other news story to comment on now.

I am so upset to read this, I am very teary right now thinking how Slade would have suffered. Slade could not defend itself. And if he did, he would have been declared dangerous because he attacked his owner. Lose-lose situation. That is why I get so upset at stupid scum like this guy. And what a stupid punishment to lay on him - phooey.

The scumbag didn't even attend court - what a coward.

He got a $4000 fine and a lifetime ban from owning a domestic animal. I think some jail time as well would have been more than appropriate.

I hope he buys himself a band saw and accidentally cuts both of his hands off, then he wont be able to do this again. You don't need to own an animal to abuse one. This level of violence shows a real sickness inside this human that could be directed anywhere.

How did I know he would get off with a blsht fine and a ban. How the hell would they know if he got a dog again? And this scumbag can now walk around with a smile on his face to say he got away with it. What message does that send to the other idiots out there doing the same thing?

I am so sick of this we may as well start letting murderers off as well with a $50 000 fine for someones soul, and hold a street parade for them in the process.

These types of attacks have to be written into law as "grievous bodily harm" and be given the same minimum sentencing as an attack of this nature on a human.

Yes exactly - why is an attack on an animal so different from an attack on a human. Why can't they finally make the penalty harsh and stick to it. I hate reading these articles, I get too upset!
