Nevafollo
So We have our first litter due! Shes due from the weekend on wards. Anyway yesterday I rang our vet about an xray. Vet nurse i spoke with wanted me to leave her there ALL day just for an xray...I dont think so tim! Everytime I ring that place they all have a different story for me, i think they make it up as they go along! Then I rang a few places booked in for one but realised I actually cant get her there that time that day so kept ringing! Next place I spoke to the lady tried to tell me they would NEVER do xrays on pregnant bitchs as it would cause abnormalities in the babies like cancer ect...I couldnt help myself and argued for abit with her then told her it was ok I was going to ring a vet that KNEW what they were talking about...rang the vet clinic that they are in association with and the vet nurse I spoke with was peeing herself with laughter and said not to worry they would ring the "abnormal" vet nurse and explain it to her! In the end I rang a another play and spoke to a lovely vet nurse who didnt have to ask a vet about everything didnt have to put me on hold to check stuff she actually KNEW what she was speaking about and they could do the time I wanted and I only leave her for 30-45 minutes and come back... needless to say if this vet plays there cards right they will be getting abit of buisness from us from now on! dancinbcs
My repro specialist vet never x-rays pregnant bitches, they do ultrasounds. I know vets used to do x-rays of pregnant bitches but my vet has had an ultrasound for many years. Edited to make sense because I left out a coupke of words. ShesaLikeableBiBear
We have NEVER had to wait more than 10 minutes for our bitches to be prepped for, and then asked to go in to look at results, of an u/s. We have only xrayed once at 8 weeks, and again waiting time no more than 10 minutes before being allowed in to see the results. Both here in QLD and when we lived in NZ. Fordogs
At the practice where I work the owner is always allowed in the room while we ultrasound or wait while we x-ray and view results with the vet. I have no idea why any practice would stress out a pregnant bitch by admitting them for the day.
espinay2
NEVER left a dog at a clinic for an x-ray (or rarely any other procedure) in my life. I am always in the room, and often helping. Boy do I love my vet.
zoiboy
Wow being at the top of the central coast am I pleased with my vet. I stay at least until my gys are sleeping and often for the whole operation / xray ultrasound or what ever. Never do my guys *get admitted* early in the day and just left. I arrive with em at the right time then just stay.......... I had 2 home visits in the last few weeks (13 poopies is not a vet trip I want to make for vacinations and microchips) the bill was the nicest supprise out as that was way less than I expected and we had 2 vets and a nurse in the house wadeing thu the great white wave of death and distruction. Cheers Linda
