My Poor Puppy

Yes, definitely a registered breeder: "All of our pups are sold with ANKC registered pedigree papers and microchipped so you will receive proof of Pedigree."

I've also seen the bloodlines and my pup has champions and grand champions in the grandparent line. The father was also a champion and the mother is a gorgeous Beagle. I have no doubt that the pup came from these lines as even the vet said she was a beautiful pedigreed Beagle from good stock.

The breeder did release the litter early last Friday as they had another litter due after the weekend. It was only 2 days early.Gypsy%20asleep.bmp.jpg

This photo was from the afternoon we picked her up.

A Registed breeder shouldnt let there pups go 2 days early of 8 weeks of age..

No, thats the other strange thing - no papers have shown up yet. How long does it take to get them?

The breeder released her early because she had another litter due on the following Monday, so we got her on the Friday - only 2 days shy of 8 weeks.

Gypsy met my mother-in-laws 2 dogs today and they all got along so well. Have to say that she has been socialised very well by the breeder. She is super friendly to all dogs and doesn't shy away from anyone. She goes to all the people she has met so far, and just loves the attention. I'm so glad she is a happy little girl with no fears or hang ups

I could be wrong but I seem to remember that age for pups leaving for their new homes could be slightly different in each state CC. We were looking at our National Code of ethics and one state had put up that pups couldn't leave breeders until 7 weeks where other states said it was 8 weeks. Like I said I could be wrong, it was a while ago and I only just remember there was an issue with the different CC being slightly different

Cheers Lee

Oh dear....whats a prefix?? I have searched their web site and can't find a thing.

A prefix is their registered kennel name, registered with their state Canine control. In the past our club has had enquiries about breeders when papers haven't turned up. Some breeders weren't putting the registrations into their CC until the pups had already gone to their new homes and it sometimes took a number of weeks for the papers to be issued and sent on. All the papers did turn up eventually from these registered breeders that the enquiries were about.

If you brought from a registered breeder give them a ring and ask where the papers are, every pups from a registered litter has to be registered whether it be main or limited register.

If they are registered the prefix/kennel name might be the same as the web site name, mine is

SA pups must be 8 weeks of age before leaving

SA breeders also must transfer ownership of papers to knew owner this could be the reason your papers have not arrived yet

after ringing the breeder with the prefix in hand it's a quick call to Dogs Sa to ask if they have been registered

I'm going completely off topic here but my pup is meant to be registered and the breeder's informed me that she has to do the whole litter at once and she still has two pups out of the litter that haven't been sold yet. She said it could be 3 months before I get her papers is that norman? Breeder is in SA

The transfer should of been done as soon as he/orshe had paid for the puppy.. After then they normaly take a couple weeks

Id give Dogs SA a call like what has been said...

All she has to do is fill out the back of one reg paper of the pup and send it in.. dogs SA do the rest..

The breeder told me it could take up to 3 months for my papers to be given to me. My pup is on Main Register and is apparently co-ownership with the kennel. I want to show her and was hoping to get the papers sooner so I can register her in Tas. I'll try to get in contact with Dogs SA

ETA,What's the deal, some kind of contract as to what you can't do etc?

Your dog will not require registration with the CC in Tasmania to be shown. If the pup is on ANKC Main Register and you have the ANKC registration number, she can be shown now provided YOU are a registered member of the Tasmanian CC (whatever its called).

Has the breeder registered the pup in joint names? You really need to know this now. Its the breeder you need to talk to.
