wuffles
Wooden flooring can be really slippery. I don't let mine chase things or each other on slippery surfaces as it's an accident waiting to happen! My large dog hates slippery surfaces, he loses his balance easily and his paws fall out from beneath him. He's still fast and agile on other surfaces. Our younger girl has no problems no matter what the surface, but I do notice if she sits on the tiles her paws slide forward gradually until she has to readjust. FionaC
at 9 weeks of age mine were falling all about the place and getting those huge paws caught up left right and centre! - heck at 9mths of age my youngest GSP will still go butt over head and tangle his paws every now and again .... if the vet says there is nothing wrong I'd just keep him off running hard on slippery surfaces and stop comparing him to his litter mates - its just more stress for you if another one is maturing faster than yours is ... although a nearly complete adult coat at 9 weeks of age seems (and keeping in mind I don't know your breed at all really) surprising? persephone
A puppy running on shiny wooden floors is not the best idea, really- slipping and trying to keep balance can cause injury. Stick to chasey/fetch games outside or on the carpet, perhaps? The littermate- does it live in the same sort of climate? Does it live indoor/outdoor? If where it spends time is a lot warmer- perhaps it is just shedding some coat.. or perhaps it has a different coat type to start with! No way will a puppy have adult coat at 9 weeks , AFAIK
Genabee
My pup is 6 months and is still unco!!!! That is part of the puppiness! We have cork floors and she can't sit for very long, with out her back legs sliding out from beneath her. It is quite funny to watch, especially if I ask her to 'high five' - requiring her to lift one of her paws off the ground! This often results in her sliding into the 'down/drop' position. For this reason, we do the bulk of her training in the lounge room where we have carpet. She has better traction and doesn't have an issue with lying on the floor! I wouldn't worry too much about your puppy. They all go through an awkward clumsy stage. He sounds very cute!!
gsdog2
No way will a puppy have adult coat at 9 weeks , AFAIK I thought the same thing - my longhair GSD was 5-6mths before she had her adult coat. It's very obvious with a longhair when they've changed from puppy to adult coat (and it continues to change as they get older), but I wouldn't imagine any breed would have adult coat at 9 wks

sas
Pups like children develop at different rates than their peers. If you're concerned perhaps speak with the Breeder. In addition, floor boards aren't a suitable floor for a puppy, it probably already needs an alignment from slipping.
mrs tornsocks
When our pup was young, we bought some of that cheapish runner carpet you can get by the metre from Bunnings. This meant he didn't slip down our floorboards, particularly the hallway. Once he was more surefooted we got rid of it, although he still slips now and then. Clastic
First thing I thought of was that floorboards are slippery. Our older pup became more coordinated at about 4 months, before then he was a complete clutz.
