giraffez
Is there a list of dog parks in Sydney? Does anyone know any dog parks close to Rhodes? Edited September 23, 2010 by giraffez
poppop
I looked on your council's website and here is the link: http://www.canadabay.nsw.gov.au/environmen...eash_areas.html It does not say if any of the areas are fenced or not, but at least you know if your dog will come when called and is well behaved that they can go for an outing legally in one of these places. I know in North Ryde there's a fenced dog park on Blenheim Rd but that's a bit of a trek for you. Hope this helps
Fleuri
http://www.educanine.com.au/offleash_dog_parks.html Have a look here I thought there was a Park at Meadowbank that was off leash. Have a look in this website I couldn't find it.

Took my old Dane there and was set upon 3 times within 15 minutes...never went back again.

giraffez
thanks all. I defintely after a fenced one. I just want a bit of socialisation for my one. As my dog hasn't been around many dogs, i;m planning to keep him on the leash until i am comfortable. i used to go to bicentenial park but its not a "dog park" per se. Sometimes i don't even see a dog there. Edited September 23, 2010 by giraffez
megan_
you'd be much better off going to a DOL meet or an obedience club IMO. I find fenced parks tend to have the less well behaved dogs in them. Also, if your dog is on leash eh might feel threatened when 10+ dogs swarm him at once (if you go to a fenced park at peak time, chances are this will happen). tdierikx
If you have time during the day on weekdays, Hawthorne Reserve at Leichhardt isn't overly crowded - and they have Bones Cafe there as an added bonus... It's a bit of a drive from Rhodes, but worth it... and the coffee is excellent at Bones T.

I was thinking of checking the park out first and if there are too many dogs then i'll leave but if there are only a few around then i will try. Are all off leash parks fenced? Is there such a thing as leashed dog park? I guess this is just a normal park hey? I find it hard to socialise in obedience training. The owners don't seem to want to have anything to do with the dog or pull their dog away even if it is just play and the trainers don't encourage it either esp if the dog is a bit nervous around dogs like mine. So i'm not really sure where to go and was thinking a less crowded dog park Edited September 23, 2010 by giraffez
megan_
I go to the park at 6.30 am - normally there are only one or two dogs. Teaching your dog to be around other dogs and NOT run after them/play with them is part of socialisation too
