DOGS Victoria After consultation with members and affiliates, management has recognised that the majority of clubs wish to retain the right to make their own decision on holding events in days of forecast extreme heat.

Each event's heat policy must be included with its published schedule.

Re: Heat Policy

After significant consultation with the membership, the Management Committee

considered 125 responses that had been received from clubs and individuals

providing comments on the heat policy introduced in February earlier this year.

Thank you to the many members and clubs who took the time to forward their

responses, detailing their thoughts on the heat policy and their suggestions for

improvement.

In summary, clubs wish to retain the right to make their own decision on holding

events in days of forecast extreme heat. Management Committee has therefore

rescinded its previous policy, and approved that all conformation clubs shall

exercise this responsibility in the best interests of their exhibitors, dogs, and show

officials.

In exercising this responsibility, conformation clubs must clearly indicate in their

schedule the arrangements that will be put into place should the forecast

temperature be extreme.

This means that the schedule must indicate a temperature which triggers an

adjustment to the start time, and should also advise the arrangements for a

cancellation or a delayed start, and where these arrangements will be notified to

members.

As an example, a schedule may indicate that if the temperature is forecast to be

more than 36 degrees as confirmed on ABC news at 7:00 pm on the preceding

evening, the show will start early at 7:00 am (or similar).

The performance disciplines (Obedience, Tracking, Agility, Herding, Earthdog,

Dances With Dogs) may revert to their previous heat/extreme weather policies.

Again, thank you to the many clubs, committees and individuals who took the time

to set out their thoughts in this consultation process.
