Joint Supplement

Just wandering what joint supplements people use for large growing pups and/or their aging dogs?

Any foods/ products that anyone could recommend?

growing pups get a good quality dry food the breed and keep them trim

for older dogs I love the Ethical Nutrients high strength liquid fish oil, and I use human 1000mg glucosamine/chondroiten tabs

I wouldn't give a joint supplement to a growing pup. A balanced diet is what they need.

I use Joint Guard for my older dogs.

I give fish oil with vit E, glucosamine, chondroitin. Don't see any issues giving any of those things to growing pups.

Like Nekhbet says, keeping the pup lean is one of the best things you can do for its joints.

I use Vets All natural Joint Formula for my 10 year old GSD. I get it from Petstock and it's reasonably priced.

I have found Glyde to work the best for geriatric dogs. Can be a bit pricey if purchased through vet $120+ but can be found online for about $80.

Had used a combination of Sasha's Blend and fish oil prior to this and also one starting with "P" :D but Glyde definately gave my 16yo a few extra years of comfort.

We're using Joint Guard as a preventative for our very active dog, and Mum uses it in her old Labrador.

There is no harm in using it in a large breed dog or a dog predisposed to joint issues or an active dog.

Pernaease powder is a product we are sucsessfully selling a lot of in our clinic.... we used to stock a fair bit of sashas blend, but this cheaper product is selling really well and the feedback has been positive.

I would think a high quality specialist puppy diet would be sufficiant enough for a pup though.
