Finally someone does something good for the dogs in puppy farms, and by God they need help, and all you lot can do( many here anyway not all ) is bitch about Dr this or Dr that and how stupid, ignoran,t too tall, too blond too this or too that he may be.

Be grateful someone is bringing this terrible issue to the fore front.

I watched it last night and it REALLY opened my eyes, it was much worse than what I thought it could be.

Until I joined DOL 5+ yrs ago, I had no idea about it.

Even though everyone talks about it on here, the pictures showed last night made me realise how horrible it really is.

I thought it was a good (but very sad) segment on the show, that got a fair bit of air time compared to other stories on the show.

Also, off topic, but wtf was with YourGen last night, using animals on the show?? I ended up turning it off because the pigs sounded ...upset/distressed when the contestants picked them up to put them in a trailer for a game.

You thought those images were bad !! go on you tube and type puppy mill or puppy farm, last nights images were MILD to the suffering some endure. They probably could not even show the really bad ones at that time of night on TV.

I classed myself as niave years ago

Well I was niave when I got my girl from a PP 14 years ago , she was "whim" when I whent shopping that day , yet my other dog came from the pound

" Yes Dear she is pure cocker spaniel "

even saw the gardener on tv recomend the kennel she came from in Vic and thought to myself wow she came from a good kennel

little did I know back then !

I started to notice her coat wasnt pure cocker spaniel coat

she is poodle cross I think

After getting mum's dog from a Ethical Registered breeder who recommended DOL

Joined DOL and then realised my girl came from a Puppy Factory :lollipop:

cost me a fortune with her illness when just 8 weeks of age

I looked at the site where she came from and broke my heart and often wonder about her mother and what she whent through :birthday:

so to me the show last night opened up my eyes and glad it was aired to help stop other niave buyers like I was all those years ago

Nearly every person I have spoken to say oh no they came from a "proper" breeder (not sure exactly what that means!) no they were from a private person and were an oops or planned cross bred litter.

Not one person had even realised such establishments exist. The show was not on either of our regional channels, but geez I wish it was! Maybe then people would stop thinking of me as a weird dog lady and actually believe me!

Dr Chris doesn't do much for me but if he even gets one person to listen then that has to be a good thing. If he does get behind it and push it as much as possible we may just have a chance of changing the public perception that the gardener helped create all those years ago.

More Power to him I say. I just hope he doesn't drop the ball now!

Well said, quoll.

I know someone here who gave specialist foster-care to a small dog rescued from a horrendous puppy-farm. Ping was a pretty little 12 months old tibbie girl, with white & gold coat. Really funny, tho', because she had orange legs. After a few months the orange started to fade. Turns out, it was the result of living her life at the puppy farm, nearly up to leg-tops in urine & faeces. It'd dyed her white legs orange.

I am guilty Mita and I owe Dr Chris an apology. I have felt he is a bit...tv-bite if you know what I mean and I was a bit cynical about the whole puppy mill thing after he had recommended buying a Malamute from PP BUT it appears that he was genuinely shocked and appalled by what he saw at the puppymill raid in Gippsland and has now committed to doing something about it.

Good on him! Chris - I applaud you for doing something to help th4ese poor dogs and using your fame to achieve it - well done!

I think you're right, Brooke. It's not until somebody sees the full horror of these places that it dawns on you.

Maybe Dr Chris took in the feedback that came in after that business of buying a puppy from the store. It referred to the hellholes that can lay behind 'shop' puppies. Now he's seen one & the poor little creatures who've 'lived' there.
