The time I see it most is when the shows are inside, there are always people in the rings before the show, during breaks, after the groups, not just having a practice but taking photo's and just having a play. Just make sure it's not going to have BIS or SS later on.You practice in my live ring when I'm stewarding - WATCH OUT! You shall be asked to leave the ring, and that could be an hour before the show. Because dropped treat fragments, urine and faeces and the increased presence of dogs add to both the wear (on grassed surfaces) and the total scent and other distractions that exhibits will encounter. If the ring is still live it's courtesy to not add to the load on the ring with practice sessions. The ring is in the control of the Club holding the show for the purpose of establishing a BIS etc, not for facilitating a practice session. If it's a dead ring, go for it. I love it when folk look all helpless as their dog's toilet at shows... "oh dear, nowhere near a scoop, I'll have to leave it".. I offer them a nice plastic nappy bag to pick it up with.
