koalathebear
Mindy is up at6.30-7 now due to daylight saving yay! :p I feel a bit spoiled. We woke up this morning briefly at 7.30am to let the dog out for his morning toileting, then popped him back in his crate so that we could do a long weekend sleep-in till 9.30am ;) No doubt he was thinking: "Why can't you get up early like Mindy's owner???" Niques
My phone thought it would be clever and turn on daylight savings - I thought James was so good not waking up until 6:45am this morning. I was wrong :p
aussielover
I could crate her and go back to bed but I find it hard to fall asleep again after getting up. So qld doesn't get daylight savings then?
Niques
No, we are daylight savings free I used to be the same as you but have eventually gotten used to falling asleep again after Mr Dog wakes up. He now gets tossed outside for 5-10 minutes when he wakes up at 5:30am and then goes into his pen for another half hour or so while I get a bit more sleep
shelby-001
My little cherrubs are all over the place, mostly around 6-6.30 am but yesterday I had to get them out of bed at 7.10 to go for their walk, I also thought I was running late when I looked at my phone, lucky for a real clock I wasn't. Phone correctly back on the right time not day light savings times. They are mostly good, if I want to lay there for a while they amuse themselves nicely. Nahla + Teddy's Mum
We've found since having them sleep on our bed that they never want to get off They wake as soon as our alarm goes off on weekdays but just cuddle up until we actually get up and on the weekends they will sleep in with us now! usually they slip out of the room for a quick toilet break then come straight back for a few more hours sleep! If they do decide to be bouncing puppies we put them outside still with some brekky and toys!
shells
I just used to put our puppies outside, go back to bed for an hour then let them in when I woke up. Though I have small children so am used to disturbed nights, early mornings and going back to sleep at short notice LOL Just think of it as future training. Now they sleep in our room and often stay in bed even though I am up and about - apparently the toddler exhausts them
aussielover
Was really tired this morning as puppy needed to go toilet at 1.30am. So this morning she did actually wake at a reasonably civilised time-7am I toileted her and popped her back in the crate (with an ecollar- she is still recovering from desexing). She was a good girl and went back to sleep and i also went back to sleep for about 1.5hrs (lucky me hey?) I was surprised she settled so quickly especially considering she hasn't been out much due to her desexing and is going a bit mad LOL Will take her for a short walk soon. Genabee
Daylight savings has been a blessing for us too... I have got an extra hour out of her roughly each morning so far. Which I will take!!!! Bring it on! I feel bad for everyone with early rising puppies who doesn't have daylight savings...
Agility Dogs
i've resigned myself to getting up early now.it is actually quite good now as i can get a lot more things done. And my puppy is a good girl, she could have a lot worse problems than getting up early. I came to this conclusion this morning. Just when I have the older two prepared to stay in their crates until whenever I choose to go and get and annoying little high drive puppy. Then I looked back at my notes from the older dogs and remembered that they used to do EXACTLY the same thing. Oh well - if Wikki turns out to be as good as the other two then it will be worth the early mornings for 12 months or so.
megan_
I get up at 5.20am on weekdays so that the dogs can get a decent walk before I go to work. Lucy now wakes up at 5am - on weekends too. She has figured out that it you nibble on my toes I tend to get out of bed very quickly

Love the middle of winter when it is dark until after 7!! WOW! I could not cope with 4 am. I have managed to get a comfortable 1.5 more hrs out of her now. So we are up at 7/73.0 most days. I will actually have to start getting up earlier though for work soon. Hopefully i don't put her in a bad habit and she will still want to sleep in on the weekends. erikajayne
Carter is training me for when I have an actual baby I think - up every two hours, although now he sleeps until 5 am in his crate! Edited October 8, 2010 by erikajayne

RiverStar-Aura
It's having a young dog that makes me glad of daylight savings too! Zeus is a sun-riser so as spring approached he'd been waking up around 5:30 - 6am and barking like mad because he wanted his breakfast. Now he's quite happy to wait quietly until 7 - 7:30am for his brekkie and is happy to get his dinner around 7pm when it starts to get dark. I'm pleased now because otherwise I was VERY tempted to buy him a watch!! :D
Liath
My Lhasa Apso puppy who is 5 1/2 months old wakes at 6am and wakes me by licking me on the leg. She persists until I get out of bed and take her outside for toilet break. Once back inside she thinks its play time and bounces all over the place and on the other dog who is still trying to sleep. I am still half asleep but amuses me that something so small can have sooo much energy so early in the morning. Wish I could borrow some of it. Nushie
I think i have jinxed myself. Since daylight savings has started Jager has been waking up at 5am. So we go out to let him go to the toilet, he never goes. So i put him back in his crate and we go back to bed until 6. I dont know why this has started and he never goes to the toilet, but seeing as he doesnt make a noise any other time i feel that when he does i should give him the opportunity to go to the toilet. Once back in bed, he goes back to sleep. I have tried ignoring him but he keeps barking until we go out. As a puppy he used to bark when he needed to go out in the middle of the night. And since then it has been the same, on weekends we used to sleep in and he would bark to go out and then we would go back to bed. Now he barks at 5am but doesnt use the toilet. Oh well. Suppose i will just have to get used to getting up for no reason and then going back to bed for another hour. Silly dog.
aussielover
Why don't you just leave him until 6 if you're sure he doesn't need to toilet? and maybe get some ear plugs LOL
Bundyburger
I get bundy up when he squawks at 5.30 when OH gets up for work.. Let him out to toilet and I go back to bed. Wake up when the alarm goes off to Bundy asleep next to me on the bed most annoyed the alarm has gone off . Although now I can start walking him in the mornings he will soon be begging to go out for his walk!
