Blakbelgian
Hi Everyone, I am posting on behalf of my sister as she is not on DOL. Her & her partner have several children and would like to add a Labrador to their family. Does anyone know of a Labrador younger than 2 years old, cream/yellow or black, male that needs a home?? They live in melbourne and can't afford to fly one from Interstate. I have suggested to her other breeds (not saying theres anything wrong with labs.) but she wants a Lab. I am giving her links to the breed page on DOL and to the Vic Club. Thanks. BB
Dju
Might be one here. Also some in the puppy pages too. But they would need to be trained, obviously. There are heaps of mature dogs available in other states though.. puppies generally cost more so perhaps the price of a mature, ready-trained dog flying in from another state would be less than the price of a puppy. Paulp
Here is a link to luvalab rescue. Even if there is not a suitable dog on their site contact Jo as they don't always have all of their dogs listed.
tez
Might be an idea to check out the recue places. I know the RSPCA in Warrnambool have had a number of labs in the recent past.
KitKat
Also get in touch with Police and Customs - for young dogs that haven't been quite suited for training I was walking one girl who didn't pass training and she was being flown back to Customs head office to be rehomed. She was a lovely girl who after 15mins walking would take any opportunity to flop into a drop in any shady spot she could get to
dancinbcs
Contact any show breeders you can find as well. They often run on more than one puppy from a litter to show and then decide which one to keep at 1-2 years, selling the others as pets. These are already trained and socialised as show dogs but you probably would need to have your name down with some breeders to get one. Lots of people want a Lab that is full grown rather than a puppy so the older ones are quite popular.

Sonic
The Labrador Club of Victoria often has dogs on it's books for rehoming. You could try them - you can get their number through the VCA website.
Pawfect
If they're not in a rush, perhaps they could go on the waiting list for a failed customs or guidedog? They come well trained, so would be a good option for family with several children Not sure how long the typical wait is though!
