Revolution ? What Do You Use?

Hi All,

I have posted on another topic regarding Ticks, as now I have checked revolution doesn't prevent Ticks (I think only American Ticks was what I read). We get the spot on and then a tablet for the other worm prevention not in revolution.

So has anyone been in this boat? Did you change products?

Partner is off to the vet tonight, but surprised they didn't give us something with Tick prevention.

I am now thinking Frontline is the best option?

I'm not a fan of Frontline. It rarely works against fleas so you're paying a lot of money just for the tick prevention.

I'd use Interceptor (Heartworm and Intestinal worms) with Advantix (Fleas and Ticks) and you'd be all covered

Thanks I heard Advantix is pretty good.

Even though she's on Revolution, I still see fleas around and it's starting to annoy me. What's worse we have a 6 month pack which I prob wont use now

Just get confused using 2 different products and whats used for what.

I know the vet should tell me but I'd rather find out from people what really works.

Advantix in summer spring months while there are ticks around , use your revolution in the winter months , I find that changing products with different effective ingredient helps to stop the fleas building immunity . my vet commented no matter what you use it will eventualy become ineffective against fleas over time as the become immune to it .

On another note one of ours reacts to the Advantix , we use a tick collar for her with day to day search when we are in a tick area as she has a short coat this is not to time consuming

Interesting, never would have thought fleas would become immune to a product.

Not sure if in a high Tick area but of course you don't want to risk it. Some of the vets in my area aren't too helpful with this.

Wish they would all just become extinct!

Tilly, are you talking about paralysis ticks or other kinds? I have used collars for several years with success and I live in a very high risk paralysis tick area - but I don't let my dogs go bush during summer (ticks and snakes). Daily searching is recommended regardless of the product you use.
