Well you're certainly prepared for anything! I like the look of the doog walkie belts but I'm worried about looking like a crazy dog lady wearing a bumbag

When Zero's around functionality and practicality beat fashion.

I couldn't care less what I look like really as long as Zero is well taken care of when we're out.

I could tell you what's in my grooming box too but that might scare you. Let's just say that the running tally of what i have as far as grooming goes is well over the $1000 mark and I don't own a hydrobath (yet).

I know Valls have a double coat but I don't think they shed half as much as Huskies do--I actually don't know what sort of grooming products to use or what brushes are suited to what fur type and so on

From what I can see, while there is a bit of difference, it's not enough to change tools. best check with your breeder - she'll have a better idea of what to use.

I use a chris christenson pin brush (getting rid of knots and the general upkeep of Z's coat),

t brush (for his pants and the underside of his tail),

comb (to remove dead hair) with a comb holder on it so my hand doesn't get sore

and curved slicker (for final touchups and to make his coat stand in the right place - also for his legs and sides of his face)

Then I have a forced air dryer to dry Zero off and to fluff him up so he looks good (also great when he's blowing coat because i can just blow the dead hair off him!)

And clippers so i can easily take the hair out from between his toes (though i would never touch any other area of his body with it!):

Woah, that's hardcore! I'll ask my breeder if the equipment is similar, I think she might have mentioned something about a pin brush.

It wouldn't surprise me if the first thing she suggested is a pin brush!! You can do most things with it - I have a lot more stuff because Zero never liked being brushed when I got him and so I have good quality equipment so that i never pull on his coat or cause him any pain while brushing.

There are a lot of cheaper alternatives to what I have - you can buy a slicker and a pin brush at pet barn for like $10-$20 each and combs are cheap as chips at a dog show. Zero hates being brushed with my old cheap equipment so I spent more money so the brush goes through his coat easier.

I'm gonna have a browse on ebay.. I don't know of any pet barns in Brisbane, though I'm not really savvy with all the pet supply stores.. yet

That looks like a circus cage I thought that maybe a soft crate would be more comfortable for the dog (and look less like the dog is imprisoned XD).

I love going to the reject shop (or cheap shops - LOTS in Brisbane ) such as crazy clarks, Sams warehouse etc etc etc and buying Lotties toys from there - they usually all have the rope toys, and yesterday I picked up a really heavy duty rope toy with a thick rubber ball on it for $2.50!! Lottie LOVES it!! I also get all my poo bags there, and my car seat cover/hamock thing and more toys!!!!!! Its better spending $2 on a toy that she'll destroy in 10 mins then $10 - and the joy she has when destroying them is worth losing the $2 . I'm a bit cheap (being a poor uni student) and got my hairdryer from there as well - I also picked up some nice pollar fleece blankets when they were on special!! grooming gear I buy from pet supply shops though - It's nice having good quality grooming gear!!!!

Theres quite a few petbarns in Bris - what area are you in and I'll tell you whats around you (I've sussed them all out!!!!).

They're great for shows! They make good grooming tables and also are collapsable, and are really hard to break haha! Not to mention the fact you can literally cart your dog around. It'll be especially good if I ever decide to get a second dog in the next 5-10 years

ETA: also, that's what a blanket's for!

Cart your dog around?? No free rides over here, the dog will have to walk alongside me.. I did want to get a collapsible soft crate for Hugo though when we go to shows. Something easy and light we can carry around

I want one of those! Even though I don't show, I carry enough stuff to shows and trials that i should get one! they're the best for carting things back to the car at the end of the day!!!

I've got to admit - I do own some pretty rockin' dog stuff. It sucks having friends with dogs because we are always eyeing eachother's stuff off! For example, I got the blow dryer, nik loved it so she got hers. I borrowed her CC t-brush to do Zero's pants and then I had to have CC brushes as well because they were insanely better than the ones I owned before! It's only getting worse as I get more friends with dogs -

Lol, it's a show trolley. Dogs who are properly conditioned to them love crates, they don't care what it looks like. they don't make the connection between bars and prison. Zero has a hard (metal) crate and a soft crate - he will pick the one with his doona in it every time!

That's pretty cool. Never would have thought that there was cheap stuff there--usually, when you go to a comic book convention, everything is 100x more expensive than it would be elsewhere and I thought that the same would apply everywhere

I love the blue crates at topbuy but I was late in getting one I also figured the xxxxxxxxlarge sizes would be a bit overkill for a Vall. But nobody has bought any of the green ones so I haven't a clue whether the green ones are the same quality as the blue! I'm so picky...

Well, at the moment, Demo's crate is a baby crib LOL, and he's figured that he can poke his head through the holes and squeeze his body through... so to puppy proof it I had to cover the sides with sheets! The poor thing can't see out, so I'm looking forward to a crate that he can view everything around out of Good thing is he does love his crib, so once I get the new crate he should be fine with it once all his lovely blankets and cuddle-bears are in it so if a circus-looking crate will make him appreciate being able to view everything around it, so be it! and in the process I get the lovely perks that it brings gadget-wise

It's not particularly cheap - some of it is about the same as what you would find in a normal pet store whereas there are also the high-end things as well, similar to what i use which are a lot more expensive,

They tend to have a good selection of items though which helps when you're looking for something specific. I tend to do my research and buy online though. It's easier for me and generally works out cheaper.

As I said, have a quiet chat to your breeder when you're talking to her next and see what she says about everything. She will have the information you need. She might even be able to point you in the direction of a specific brand of brush or comb that is good for her dogs.
