Cheyd
http://www.news.com.au/world/pensioners-tr...i-1225915291750 Man caught on CCTV stealing dog Dog found dead three days later in a river Elderly owners traumatised by crime MAN sentenced after stealing an elderly couple's pet dog and hurling it to its death from 12 metres. Gary Marshman was caught on CCTV snatching the border collie from outside a Tesco supermarket, The Sun said. 26-year-old Marshman was then tracked by CCTV leading the dog through a car park. A single white hair found on Marshman’s clothes was later shown to be the dog’s and the 26-year-old was jailed for 26 weeks. The court heard the dog’s owner Ron Risby, 78, and his wife Enid, 71, were left traumatised by the crime against the beloved pet, which was described as their chief interest in life. Bench chairman Vince Reynolds told Marshman: "The offence is so serious that only a custodial sentence is justified. This offence has been taken against vulnerable victims." Acting Sergeant Clare Hart of the local Neighbourhood Policing team said: "This was despicable act which has deprived the owners of a dog which they have looked after for 10 years of their lives and which itself was a rescue dog. "Someone has taken advantage of their day to day routine and has left them deeply traumatised as a result." poodlefan
Well I hope he gets what's coming to him. Yet another tragic example of why dog owners shouldn't leave their dogs unattended in public places.

Her Majesty Dogmad
This was so very sick, unbelievable. Why the hell did he take their poor, harmless old dog? It's why I'd never leave my dogs tied up anywhere, you just don't know what sickos are out there. Glad he got jail but it's just not enough. He needs serious attention and who knows what other horrific acts he's committed previously?
PaddyForever
Disgusting individual. Hope he serves his full, if rather pitiful sentence. I wonder if he was sentenced for stealing the dog, or killing her? That poor couple- what a horrible way for your 12 yr old dog's life to end... I would never get over it, myself. And I'm worried about what this sick individual will do next...I guess, there's always the chance that he just let the dog go, and it fell from the bridge... but really, what dog is usually that foolish...I hope this guy doesn't move on to bigger targets...Hopefully, someone will treat him like a dog in prison...that's a happy thought... :D RIP, darling Jess. toy dog
This was so very sick, unbelievable. He needs serious attention and who knows what other horrific acts he's committed previously? yes agree 100% this is what i've been trying to tell people for ages, don't leave dogs vunerable to anything out there in society by tying them to a pole or whatever. i believe its like tying a todler to a pole and hoping for the best and that they'll be there when you come back from your shopping. dogs like human babies rely on us to make responsible decisions and i believe tying your animals to poles is not really responsible. had a person who bought 2 of my dogs tell me that he used to go to the local supermarket after tying the 2 dogs to a pole i didn't know he did this then proceeded to tell me that one day 2 men tried to untie the girl and she is a bit timid so was barking he looked out and caught them. so if she had not have barked she would have been stolen. the 14 year old died and he wanted to replace him with one of my other dogs, so we put a stipulation on him that if he was going to own another one of our dogs he was not to tie the dogs outside shops any longer. just ignored us and basically told us that he was still gona do it. some people are so ignorant it hurts.
