zifnab
Hi; Mindy (18 months) has suddenly started limping. She dosen't put weight on her left hind leg. She woke up after a nap and was limping. I've felt the left and foot and can't find a sore spot, no cuts or split nails or anything. Anything else I can check? Current plan is to see how she is tomorrow before making a vet appointment. Staffyluv
Unless she slept on it wrong and it was just 'asleep' (like ours go numb from laying on it too long) and has since improved and she is OK now, I would be making a vet visit... Good luck
Stitch
Could be anything from just a sprain to Legg Perthes disease - best to see your vet if it continues.
Everythings Shiny
What breed is she? Has she done anything like falling over etc of late?
zifnab
She's a large bitsa. No falls or anything of note happened prior to the limp. Hoping its just a pulled or strained muscle that stiffened up while she rested. Off to the vet tomorrow to see what he thinks. Now for the hard part, keeping an active dog quiet.... zifnab
Went to the vet this afternoon. He thinks its probably a tear in her cruciate ligament. No noticeable instability in the joint, but it did bother her when he was moving the joint. However she had already shown a lot of improvement by this morning, so fingers crossed its only very minor damage. So she is on anti-inflammatorys and very restricted movement for a week.
