Just out of interest, do you guys make up your own Puppy Packs or order them from the likes of Advance, Eukanuba etc?

We ordered puppy packs from Advance last year for our litter and then added to them to include info about our breed, copies of parent DNA profiling, L2-HGA & HC Clear certificates, LR ped cert, Vaccination details, 5-gen pedigree, photos of both sire & dam, photos of each puppies siblings, our vet contact details, a large blanket each, toys, water & food bowls plus a lead & collar set for each new puppy owner.

As we are preparing for our next litter (hopefully due early Sept) just wanting other ppls idea's on things we may not have thought about including.

Cheers,

Melissa

And you actually received your Advance puppy pack? I gave up after both myself and my food supplier tried over 18 months and 2 litters. Advance lost me all together of it and after years of feeding Advance I switched over to Royal Canin.

I make up my own puppy packs also.

If you do a search, I raised a similar topic last year, but also asked for input from "the other side" as to the kinds of things THEY would like to see included. It was in General.

Thanks for that Lisa.

I'll do a search to see if I can find anything.

 Yes, we did and received them rather promptly.

I can remember reading on one of the topics somewhere that Advance were quite slack and a few people had given them the flick.

Maybe we just got lucky last year, I plan on ordering the kits when the bitch has whelped.

Hopefully they just as efficient as last time.

I contacted 'Advance' with no response either so I thought I'd put my own together since I'm feeding Royal Canin now anyway. Thought I might put a 'puppy pal' toy in for the baby to sleep with when it leaves it's pals?

I'll search for the other post as it's something I've been thinking about. I plan to put in puppy and Breed information.

I wonder what we did wrong LizT. Anyway, my dogs seem to love the Royal Canin and do well on it - though my latest addition pup only likes the adult and won't look at the puppy food. I'm biting my nails as to whether to get just one puppy bag of Advance even though I swore off it :provoke:

Thanks from me too. Interesting what folk say about the pics. For my pre-order puppy-parents-in-waiting I send a weekly update by email with photos and, when they get a bit bigger, some video on YouTube. For the puppy owners to be that come when the pups are a born or a few weeks old I send them the catch-up copies. They get the usual puppy packs as stated when they get their pup. Everyone always seems happy and I haven't had a complaint.

Apart from the regular stuff-

I send one or two pics of the pup each week but my info sheets and ALL the photos of the litter plus Mum & Dad all goes onto a USB for the new owner. :provoke:

I found my Puppy Pack folder was getting bigger and bigger and more & more time-consuming - let alone all the ink I used!! - so now breed articles, diet sheets, vaccination protocols, health testing info etc etc all goes onto the USB. :)

Don't forget to give your Puppy Buyers BUSINESS CARDS! ;) Nothing promotes your breeding more than a cute puppy on a walk

Info bout the breed, my lines and our kennels, including weights of thier pups, days eyes opened, etc etc.

Bed

Blanket

TOy

Bag of food (i dont bother with the puppy packs, i get them a full size bag along with the puppy packs if i get them)

food bowl/water bowl (we use the cheap plastic food bowls for our lot, but we tend to buy new funky bowls for the owners)

Gift for the owner (usually a I Love My Pom cell phone charm or something)

worming tablet

Flea treatment

Loan of a book on Pomeranians (i have built up a large library and will lend them out)

show lead (very hard to find things that fit poms here, so i just buy show leads cheap and put them away)

grooming kit

sometimes puppy pads if i can source them cheap

I knit them all a cardy for when they get the puppy uglies if it is winter

all pictures of them, i usually email this

Basically, they jsut pick pup up and away they go.. they dont need to buy anything as it all comes provided. I find the pups settle easier, on thier own beds that has smells of here, and i try to go that extra mile.

Its a good idea bout the bus cards, and looking at vista print i could go wild! Maybe baseball caps with THEIR puppy on it! no wonder i dont make a profit LOL.

All the feedback ive had is that it is so handy having everything, although they grumble they dont need to shop! I suggest to them if they do wish to shop, and buy thier puppy stuff, what i provide can be given to the spca or pound on their puppys behalf.

I think it is nice to NOT include everything, part of the excitment of getting a new puppy is to go to the pet shop to buy toys, bowls, leads, bedding etc.

Hi becks,

I agree with you however the things we include in our packs will generally only last the puppy for a short time.

For us its merely a small gift for his/her new family.

And with some breeds, it is also making sure that the puppy has what is suitable.

Don't know..?? but I got onto their Website and just Registered as an "Advance Breeder" so I'll see what happens there.

Both my dogs love their food as the second was an 'Advance Puppy'. I had the first one on Hills, which she loved, the second came with an 'Advance Puppy pack' and I switched them both to 'Advance'. When the second dogs seemed to scratch excessively I put her on 'Advance Sensitive', that helped alot but since I put her on Royal Canin she barely has a scratch at all.
