Rainy
hay all, it it ok for dogs (staffy) to eat lamp shank bones ? I just noticed that my daughter mixed up the "bones" in the frige and gave diesel one of the lamb shanks insted of the dog bone cause he has slobberd all over it i figure he can have the meat but should i leave him with the bone as well or take the bone away? koalathebear
My puppy (six month old kelpie x) gets a lamb shank now and then and he seems fine with it We keep an eye on him to make sure he doesn't inhale it whole
Sandra777
Personally I find they splinter too easily under the attentions of a Stafford (other dogs, different outcome). But if Diesel's more a gnawer than a muncher he might enjoy chewing on the joint ends and getting the cartildge and marrow. I'd just watch him and pick it up if he starts to crunch it into long spears. If it was a young lamb it might be OK though! claireybell
My beagle and cocker are fin with them. The only down side is that the beagle gets the stinky farts sooo bad after lamb!
