Prefferd Dog Food

Hey,

Just wandering what people's prefrence is on diffferent dog food products.. with my Labrador i was feeding him Eukanuba (Hope thats spelt right ) ....

I didn't find it too bad. I've recently just bought a BullMastiff who is only 8.5 weeks atm, I wanted to make sure he's getting the right nutrients so if any one else knows of any other good brands let me know...

Ususally the best bet is to ask the pups breeder what they feed as they will know the best diet to help the dog grow in the best way for breed.

You need to follow the advice of your breeder re diet as there is very specific dietary requirements for large/ giant breed dogs to ensure that they grow slow and steady. It comes down to the right balance of protein to fat and also the calcium and phosphorous ratios (care should be taken if adding other foods to a dry diet as it can throw these out). This diet needs to continue for at least 12 months until growth is finished.

Personally I prefer Eagle Pack but look at the other super premium foods like Euk and ProPlan.

Your breeder should have also said not to use calcium supplements.

Royal Canin do a Giant Breed formula, Advance do a Large/Giant breed forumula - at the very minimum go for a kibble made for large breeds.

Has your breeder suggested a brand?

Your breeder should have supplied you with a diet chart for your puppy.

Hey,

I'm yet to pick up my pup, the breeder said she will give me a "puppy pack" so I assume she will have all the information in there.

Ask for the details of the feeding requirements in the puppy pack to be sent to you now, so that you can purchase in advance. We send our puppy packs well before the pups leave home, so the new owners have all of the details

I have always used Hills food for my dogs. They have a brilliant range out there for different breed sizes and any medical conditions dogs and cats may get.

My clinic always pushes either Hills or Eukanuba.

Hey everyone thanks for replying, the breeder of my pup has emailed me through all the info, I pick my puppy up this friday, so exicted about meeting him!
