Best to ask your vet I think ... I have used anti histamine for a cat with allergic asthma type symptoms....under vet direction.

I asked a vet receptionist once and she that the human ones have no effect on animals

My cat has allergy injections every few months, done at the vets.

we went to the vet on monday as she had a swollen ear, no bites from the other cats, nothing in it etc, the vet and i think maybe an insect bite.

She had a cortisone injection then, and tonight i noticed the other ear had fdone the same but not to the same degree

I called the vet and the nurse said not too, so i am watching her - the ear is nearly back to normal

I have had a bee sting on my dog before and first thing was to call the vet.

Vet advised to give my dog antihistamine, gave me a correct dosage for her body weight and sure enough it seemed to work fine. If symptoms progressed after the tablet we were to take her straight in, but her face went back to normal shortly after the tablet

I couldnt help with cats though sorry.
