We got our aussie around 15 years ago, when the breed was pretty new to the country (ironically, seeing as they are aussie sheps lol).

Of course now there are plenty of breeeders around :( Though I still don't see many aussies in my area :cheer:

We also got a few contacts for breeders in victoria and QLD but can't really remeber how.

We enquired about some flatcoats in VIC as well as some brittanys and tollers.

I didn't plan to get Charlie... he was an accident, and my friend knew I was looking for a Cav puppy or a Shih Tzu puppy, and told me about a friend who has a Cav x Shih tzu puppy. One night after work, we went to see the puppy (for kicks and giggles)... Charlie came home with me that night. We actually took him to the "breeders" friend who's a vet.. got his vac, mircochip, and cause the lady works for the council.. we did the paperwork that night too! That was that :cheer:

Emmy was found by accident. We originally talked to a breeder in NSW but there were complications, and the boyfriend and i were feeling bum, so he went on DOL to have a look what else is out there. Came across Emmy's breeder, talked me into calling.. the breeder and I automatically clicked. We talked for a few hours the first time we chatted, then she offered me her one and only pup. The boyfriend and I weren't keen on a little girl, but her temperament sounds exactly what we were looking for. We went to go meet Emmy but end up taking her home with us :(

I'm not sure if my next dog will be a Japanese Spitz (most probably not) BUT i will definitely own another one in the future. I'm in love with that breed. I will probably get another Jap Spitz from her if she is still breeding them in the future.

Clover's breeder is no longer breeding the standard size aussies

There is only one size.

Clover's Breeder now breeds Mini Australian Shepherds. :cheer:

Not AKC ANKC or ASCA registerable, but yet she wants to breed them.

WTF? Aussies are perfect as they are :(

Spartan was word of mouth... i was originally on a list of a breeder in WA but she wasn't having any luck with her bitches falling... so she recommended a few to me and i chose one... just so happened that she had a litter due in the next month, and when born she offered me the pick boy who happened to be the only boy of the colouring i wanted. Got into showing, and therefore got my next dog from her. James was perfect in everyway but i was heartbroken after he was diagnosed with HD so i moved back to my childhood breed, weimaraners.

I had never really researched breeders outside of the state for weimaraners but seeing as I got both my boys from Victoria i knew that it was quite easy, so i looked outside WA and away from the lines I had previously. Found dogs I liked the look of and sent the breeder an email. Told her what i wanted, she was very helpful and so supportive. I got Ari earlier than i had expected but the breeder has been incredibly supportive and helpful since then. I've been lucky enough to meet her a few times now and we get along great. If i wasn't planning on breeding Ari i'd be getting my next pup from this breeder without even having to think about it.

My cocker came from a breeder that I found on the tradinf post. Ut turns out that they aren't very ethical breeders. My beagle X came from a petshop.

I then joined DOL and have learnt sooooo much. Our next dog will come from the recommendations I get from this site about which type of breeder is best for the dog I want.

Both our greys are from racing stock (neither made it to a track though) - Patch was advertised FTGH and Lilly was ours from a pup. I found Oscar's breeder after being recommended her by a couple of DOL'ers - like others have said - I 'clicked' with her and still keep in touch regularly.

I chose the breeder of my foundation basically because they had the best whippets in the country, IMO, and of the type that I wanted to show and breed. I saw ancestors when I had a spell in the USA so was pretty much hooked. I followed their breeding since the 1980's when I showed another breed.

I can't get anymore whippys from them as they have turned to the dark side and now only breed cute little Griffons :dancingelephant::dancingelephant:

I have only had dogs from registered breeders or the RSPCA.

I got my Shih Tzu from a breeder on DOL but she was anything but ethical. :dancingelephant:

Archer is our new addition (a Golden Retriever) and this is the third dog I have had from this breeder. My first Golden from her was over 11 years ago. She is a true friend and I will hopefully always be lucky to have one of her beautiful Goldens in my life.

Found an ad on Dol listing about a golden wanting a new home and a Mummy who will spoil it. Thought to myself “OMG! That is ME!!! I am the perfect Momma for this dog.”

Rang up breeder, launched into all sorts of garbage and crazy talk. She invited me to come over and meet her dogs to sort out whether I even wanted a dog at all. Met Bubby, was so impressed by how pretty he was so decided to put a deposit on him but I was feeling very uncertain about the whole dog thing so I asked the breeder to keep him for another month (this was so I could get used to the idea of ruining my life) :dancingelephant:

One month later we picked him up, brought him home, he was everything they had promised (we thought maybe they exaggerated a little but apparently not!). 2 years later we bought Baby Bitty off them and she is divine.

To me they are the best breeders in the world! I send the kids down for babysitting and grooming frequently! My dream is to show one of their dogs (my next dog whenever that is!)

In the eighties there were not many newfs around, we found our breeder by asking lots of questions at shows and have since got all our dogs through her. be it puppy or rescue. As she also does newf rescue..........

I've ticked 3 boxes for 2 dogs.

CK came from a breeder here in Qld who was recommended to me by a friend at work and the BC Club of Qld also mentioned that she had a litter on the ground - meant to be.

Our latest pup, Wikki, came not from that kennel, but has the same sire as CK so she is from the same oines if not the same breeder. Word of mouth/reputation of the breeder was also a good reason for me to go with this breeder.

I would have been happy to have a pup from either person.

Atlas - i was ringing breeders asking about pups, turned out one of the breeders, was married to mums good friend, so i got a pup via him

Kaos - rung a breeder i found on DOL to find out about pups, she put me on to a breeder who had a pup, i picked her up a week later

I wouldnt go near Atlas' breeder again

would be find with Kaos' breeder, but i am eyeing off another breeder in regards to the SBT, and it is going to be years till i get another one, so dont think I will be going via her next time round.

Most of my SBT's have come from the one breeder, she's been producing great dogs with awesome temperaments for years. I noticed her dogs at a Speciality and called her. After waiting a couple of years, she gave me one of the bitches, then another and finally the dog that I had wanted. I've now had 4 or her dogs and will have more in the future. She's a wonderful source of support.

My Whippets came from a breeder on DOL, they are renowned for producing beautiful Sighthounds and I happened to be in the right place at the right time. I'd go back over and over, if I had the room for more of them. For now it's just the two Whippet ladies but I would love one of their Zoi

Just going back to the OP's first post regarding having received a listing from Dogs NSW with breeders...considering there was only breeder of Australian Shepherds on that listing at the time it was most likely because they'd paid for advertising.
