GoldenGirl85
Tess has never really been a Kong dog, she will lick out as much as she can reach, but gives up as soon as it becomes difficult, Ive never really given her Kongs because she has so little interest in them Lexi has been getting a Kong for dinner and she loves it, she is more than happy to keep chewing even after all the meat is gone Does anyone have any suggestions for getting Tess more interested in her Kong? I have two sizes but Im wondering if the small one might be too small for her, technically its the right size for her breed, but she seems to have a lot of trouble getting the food out (the small one is always put up when Tess isnt licking it out so Lexi doesnt get it), do you think if I turf the smaller one and get a bigger one she might show more interest because its 'easier'? Also what do you guys put in your Kongs to build interest? so far she has been getting some Natures Gift tinned food, or pet mince with a bit of kibble
SkySoaringMagpie
I chuck something interesting in the bottom of it, a stinky piece of garlic sausage or tuna or roo treat or something - often bits of leftovers from our dinner (not the roo treat bit). Usually our guys empty their kongs - it's rare for them not to. One thing I found, Kongs are really a "I'm bored, might as well try this" kind of thing. Ours never used to play with them when we were around but if we're out at work all day they usually decide to winkle that last bit out.
Bundyburger
Bundy has the same problem, he can't reach bits easily and gives up. Let me know if you try the smaller one and I may just go buy them for mine too!

Thanks I have filled my big one with Natures Gift and frozen it for my girls before, and it always gets cleaned out, but Im not sure which dog is finishing it, which is why Im wondering if she just needs something more interesting or a bigger Kong lol
VJB
I have mixed kibble with sardines and had more success. I did this every now and then for a couple of months, and now I can make things a little more challenging for her. I don't have a typical shaped kong, but a round one with ridges around the outside. I sometimes smear peanut butter around the edges, into the grooves.
rubiton
Peanut butter inside - you do have to make sure you clean it later but they love peanut butter
